Kazecon AMV contest

Post by Illia Sadri » Thu Sep 18, 2003 12:59 pm

The con time is approaching and thus we are making a call for amv submissions for one of the new first year cons starting in the midwest.

Somethign new we are trying with the AMV contest this year is we are going to do it MTV-VJ style rather than the typical string of videos with only a 10 second bumper as a transition. We're hoping it will be a fun way to get it done.

Rules are on our website at http://www.kazecon.com under the events section. If you have any questions drop a line ot the department head for that or you can ask me. I am probably person to go to as far as technical issues while Dave is the guy to ask about the contest itself.

If someone needs help with getting a submission in (as in their burner just died since this year we do not have an ftp) let me know and i will arrange for something. Best advise I have is avoid divx encodes since when i go to re-encode them it will lose quality.

And we just got confirmed on our grand prize for the contest being a brand new DVD-R drive and some disks to start with.

Yeah our server or something is down..... very rotten timing but what can be done? Hopefully by tomorrow it will certainly be up, if not then I will post the info on here so that people wanting to get videos in can do so before the deadline.

I'd help out since you're my friend and all, but I honestly don't have anything worth submitting right now. The only one worth submitting has already won at Otakon and it would be very rude of me to submit it to anything else.

My other videos are premiering at AWA and you know rules on those videos and the secrecy nonsense.

Sowwy.

So if I send in a CD-R with an Mpeg2 file ensureing that the post office stamps it by Sept 26, that should be ok? I'll see about sending something by Monday then....

You can send it with or without. i do intend on making bumbers when I encode but don't worry about it really since it takes all of 10 seconds for it to be removed. If you have a copy without the bumper, fine, otherwise send in whatever version you have.

Basically I am not picky. All I ask from my part of the amv stuff is for the videos to be well encoded with anything but divx, real media or wmv. As long as that is fine, I can handle my end, and Dave can easily handle his end of the receiving videos and writing the material needed. :)
