It has an apeal, if it didn't, kids wouldn't be watching it. it may be crap to lyou, but to somebody else it has a value.

not everyoen agrees with you and don't let your bias stop you from enjoying it.

actually, I must admit that I have in fact enjoyed some of the funnier eps and avidly followed the Frieza saga on TV.

Plus, a fundamental belief of mine is into the subjectiveness of reality, which means I'm by no means denying people their right to enjoy and feel good about whatever they think is good for them.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

DBZ is hilarious, and if you have patience there's actually character development, believe it or not (just think about the whole Trunks/Vegeta thing in the Cell Saga, sez the girl who hasn't finished watching that saga yet and therefore shouldn't say anything about it...)

The main problem with the Americanized DBZ is that it's Americanized. They change the voices, naturally, and then they proceed to change the music and edit certain scenes.

*shrug* But yeah, it takes a certain type of person to like DBZ. Take me, for example. I think I'm probably one of the only females on the planet who thinks the show is "cute."

I've seen the show from Raditz to the end of the Buu saga.

Honestly I found it ok. Not as bad as many people say, just mediocre.

No, there are at least 5 of us. I'm another (also a major fan of Vegeta and Trunks, so I'm sure you'll love the end of the Android saga), and 3 of my close real-life friends adore the anime and get a kick out of the cute/funny scenes mixed in with the drama and action. I know a lot more over the internet, also female, also big fans. They just don't hang out here that often. ^_~

I find DBZ to be over-rated. To be sure there are good parts but the multi-episode slugfests like the Majin Buu and Frieza arcs get sort of boring after a while. Original Dragon Ball has started recently airing up here on YTV and I'm starting to like that series better than DBZ. The theme song to Dragon Ball is horrible though...very juvenile, and sorta belies the content (Oolong wearing panties as headgear etc.) of the humour.

Well, the extended fights in dbz are driven by drama. If you don't have an attachment to the characters (from having watched previous episodes/arcs), you'll have a tough time seeing the drawn out battles as being anything but boring. ~_~;; That's one of the reasons I hated the final Frieza fight...weeks of seeing two people I don't care about fighting. I had no attachment to them, so what was *meant* to be a dramatic pause (2 minutes till the planet explodes) was just an infuriating prolonguement of an already drawn out fight.

On the other hand, I don't mind watching the long final episodes of the Kid Buu fight because Vegeta plays a major role in them, and the drama actually works on me there (since I have an attachment to the character).

But for kids...yes, it's the light show for those who only catch a few episodes. If they get to see it from the beginning they can also make connections between characters like Gohan (who goes through a lot of trials as he gets older) and themselves. I know far too many impressionable young boys who fall into obsession because they see the character's fury and emotions as being an outlet similar to ones they want in their own lives. I don't think anyone under 15 should be allowed to watch dbz, so I have a different stance.

for me DB and DBZ have nostalgis value because they were some of the first animes i watched. DB when it first (or when i think it first was aired in canada) aired here. And later i saw DBZ while i was getting the shit kicked out of me every other day at school. So naturaly i wished to posses that kind of strenght and ability to improve.

but i really don't remember very much about the series since i never saw either of them end to end. But i do remember the terrible voice actors ...

thats becouse you cant really get attached to the characters becouse there imotions are sperd out over like 20 episodes. i mean in the cell saga when goku was getting killed and stuff i was sad for gohan but comeone how long can it last?
