concert footage in AMV?
I have an idea for a vid (which of course needs to be shelved until November when I plan on hardware upgrades that would let me actually edit videos, and the cable modem to transfer them at better than 2.5k/sec) that involves mixing video of a band performing and an anime. Has anyone mixed concert footage into their projects?

I disavow any knowledge of this Verticle Horizon band you speak of.

I refuse to acknowledge their presence.
They never happened.

Actually, I've been thinking of doing something like that in a couple of months... Depending on the footage you use, it can really be pretty cool.
The big advantage of this is that you have an extra element in your vid that is perfectly synched (well, if you have musicians playing on stage, sure), so it might actually leave you a bit more room for slackage in the actual anime element.
On the other hand, how you balance this is a bit of a question. I guess I'll find out if or when I try it myself. Bizzare - I also plan to start in November since this is when a music DVD of my interest is supposed to be released.

Well, I'll tip you on my plan, but I plan on copying this thread to my HDD so if someone beats me to the punch, I still get the originality credit when I get around to it.
There's a song by Apoptygma Berzerk called Kathy's Song, and the intro goes "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth, and the earth was without form and void....blah blah blah...God created man...blah...man created machine, machine created music." And it uses a lot of synthetic voices, and it's a love song.
So I naturally thought of Lain as the perfect source for a video. Apop released a tour video a couple years ago and one of the songs on the dvd is Kathy's song. And fourtunately it's the same mix (Victoria Mix by VNV Nation).
I just have to make sure I avoid being too literal in the edit.

You mention that one and forget this one, shame on you.
Yeah, this LP one is rather well combined.

Sounds functional and original enough, though I don't think people would really be that eager to steal your idea.
Hmm... still, I wonder how to best combine the two video sources - push more on the anime, on the musicians, or equal focus on both? Really, a lot of options in this.
Wonder if this will become more common practice as music DVD's get more widespread. It doesn't seem like there's too many around just yet.
Led Zep DVD, anyone?
