Well, our military can't really pull out now. The situation was stable if unpleasant, before we went in, and now that we've shaken up the country, we're in it for the long term (unfortunately) - that, or just leave a chaotic mess.

Our big problem is that we're sort of trying to play "nice conqueror", by bringing in supplies and trying to set up a new government, while trying to surgically pacify a hostile populace.

If we went on a total blitzkrieg through the country and showed that we were to be feared on the ground like we are in the air, we would probably have fewer problems.

Of course, we wouldn't be having these problems if we hadn't gone in, and we probably wouldn't have to worry about Saddam now if we had helped support the post-Gulf War uprising that Bush Sr. encouraged the Iraqis to start.

Not that the first Gulf War was a good thing, but it could've been a pretty good moment for the US - we drive Iraq out of Kuwait, encourage and support the Iraqi people in overthrowing Saddam, help create a decent government, and still get oil contracts.

Pisses me off to think about.

And What did Iraq have to do with terrorism? Last time I checked the terrorists were still roaming around in Afganistan... which we pulled out of. I mean fuck Osama bin Laden told the Iraqi people to rise up becuase Saddam was on of the infedels in one of his fucking tapes FOR GOD SAKES WHY WERE WE IN IRAQ! EXPLAIN THIS TO ME PLEASE!

Which, as you said, couldn't be farther from the truth. But, to an under-educated, culturally unaware Joe, it's all the same. Hell, you had Sikhs being harassed after Sep. 11. What did they have to do with any of that?

This is a problem, and this is why the government hawks run rampant. Because the average Joe doesn't know the difference between Sikh and Muslim, let alone the differences within the Arab world...

As far as i know, it's a problem with communication. The Iraqi police have no way whatsoever of contacting higher-ups to the situation.

also, i can't really blame US soldiers, since they have been in a lot of serious cross-fire. They're not as sharp. Also, less then 1% of US soldiers understand Iraqi (if that was what the Iraqi's were shouting in).

If there's anyone to blame, blame the US superior's lack of outlook on communication. The only way to stop this is for Iraqi and US soldiers to be able to communicate efficiently.

2) Iraqi people, as any other representatives of a fairly educated nation, would certainly know enough to say 'we're police' or something. At least one among the 25 of them would.

Iraqi people speak Arabic... Which is used all over the middle East. I believe the Army Marines Air Force Navy National Gaurd Coast Gaurd and all there reserves did some huge recruiting for translators... :-/

And I thought it was 72% of people who thought they were the same... But 69% just sounds better.

And the people do blame is the people who shifted the blame of Saudi Arabia and shifted it onto Iraq.

Yes Saddam wanted to harbor terrorists, but terrorists didn't like him. Yes Saddam wanted chemical weapons... But he couldn't get them... And had no plans to try for another 5 years. Yes Saddam wanted Nuclear weapons but again, didn't have them and didn't want them...

But maybe they did and they just buried them in the desert after the war started like they did with their Air Force... But that doesn't change the fact that we'd be better served to work with saddam to take out the government sponsed terrorist activities going on in Saudi Arabia, but the Saudi King or whatever they call there leader is freinds with Bush Sr. Or better yet, we'd be better served dealing with N. Korea who has Nuclear weapons that can reach California, and have Admitted to it. Working with Japan and S. Korea we could do it. But we are scared of what China and Russia would think... So Bush picked on Iraq who only the Germans and French give a shit about because they have contracts to sell them weapons....

And we know we can take the Germans and the French...

Now we are spending something like $87 billion a month in Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with terrorist and is doing no good to any one, not even the Iraqi people. They have traded one Dictator for another.

In 5 years Iraq could be a huge world power again... Only time well tell... But with plans like boosting tourism to Iraq to increase their Economy... It is doubtful. It is pretty obvious they have some of the most brillant scienctist in the world, (all those people we interigated over WMDs) put them to work that could increase the economy. Don't give sight seeing tours of Saddams Palaces that's just poor taste... But he did have some nice places...

Anyway That will end my rant I have a class to attend...

Sorry. When I get pissed off I tend to generalise a fair bit. I know not all of you are like that. And I'm glad to hear that not all of you wanted this war. It just maks me mad knowing people of the likes that do shit like shoot people for 45 fucking minutes exist.
