Edit and Delete your own post

Post by Gjervan » Fri Sep 12, 2003 3:43 pm

Could that be allowed? In a forum I daily visits; http://www.zeldauniverse.net, that almost is complete the same layout and blue-print as this forum, this is possible.

Well, it all seems like a good idea, but you know what? I prefer it. It makes posters slightly more responsible in the end. For smaller forums, edit works. For big forums, this scenario is more adviseable.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

You may have right, but if you e.g. dig up more stuff on a subject you have made a post about and want to mention that, maybe you have to double-post, and entries as "Just forget my last post" just don't seem very clever.

mm... yea, that's happened to us before. But don't worry, it works. I've had upwards of 4 posts in a row on the same thread because of that, and noone seemed to mind.

Besides, while a valid suggestion, this has been brought up and rejected by Phade and most regular so many times already, I doubt something will suddenly change.

I say just enjoy the place the way it is and don't worry about having to correct yourself from time to time. : 8)

If it is okay to double-post to add things to your first post, everything is fine. I thought it was forbidden, because the forum I used as an example (http://www.zeldauniverse.net), didn't appreciate it.

No, no problem, we're not Zeldauniverse after all

The forum rules, I think, are pretty straightforward and self-evident here, so just as long as you stay within those, you're good. The only really bad things that are punisheable in this forum are personal attack, posting illegal/fansub download links or inappropriate images. The rest goes pretty well (like swearing) or is automatically limited by the forum (like spam).

Enjoy your stay. 8)

yea but theres lots of shit that escapes you the first time you previes and you only notice it after posting. i can't remember but i think one of teh forums on demonseal.net allows you to edit a post untill it hit's a certain age, at which point it's uneditable to prevent somone from doing somethign stupid like changing somethign they said to "win" an argument ... or i could be wrong. it's been a while since i was on demonseal.

Post counts matter, so lacking an edit button helps increase the number.
