I pray for a solid 30min every may 9, d-day anniversary, vetrans day, and every now and then just for people who died meaningless deaths in generalOtohiko wrote:So was WWI, to an extent, and definitely the Civil War (that is, US' own fault).
For me, the real day of rememberance is still May 9th, the factual day when the fighting ended on the WWII European front. Many a relative of my family lost their lives and/or livelyhoods there, along with a good 50mil others.
I wonder why that event, or the end of the War in the Pacific, isn't remembered as well as the other rememberance occasions.
Sick of 9/11

I respect Sep. 11 both for its' political importance and the lives lost, as well as those other events.
Here, common ground
Seriously, I don't intend to be a jerk. I just have no shame or sense of political correctness.

I'm really getting frustrate trying to explain this to you people, so let me rephrase it:
I'm not trying to rehash everything that the news has went over or the fact that it was a terrorist attack, or any of that other bullshit, I'm just trying to give a moment to those who died, not the way they died, or who did it, or what our country did about it,and also all those other events yes i admit that they get nowhere near the same kind of publicity that 9/11 gets, and i believe that that is a good thing, NO event this tragic(or even more so with WWII,vietnam, etc.) should be brought up so many times in this manner.
Although I do agree with how on each and EVERY on of these special days the country as a whole does, numerous memorials, prayer sessions,etc..
And to explain why the other wars and tragedys are not remembered as much is the simple fact that most of the people that witnessed them are either dead(WWII) or aging(vietnam), and most of us were just simply born after all that shit happened, those that were around then, have already been through years of the "rememberance" tv specials, and memorial days, so of coarse they won't be voicing their opinions on the wars very loudly anymore.
Well anyway, i'm done venting on all you people and i'm not angry at anyone anymore, i just hope that me clairfying my point of view this time helps get you guys off my back, and to understand what i'm trying to say.

Hey. No worries. Since you were pretty directly affected by this, I can't argue with that - I can't say I was, in the same fashion.
I certainly get a little irritated when people dismiss events that affected me... but that's another story.
More importantly, I think people are forgetting that, unlike a lot of over-publicized things, this one is definitely real and not trivial. Just think of all the dumb publicity that celebrity sex scandals or overplayed pop entertainment is getting! That's what we should be pissed at.

You think one terrorist attack is such a big deal? The Israelis live with the threat of genocide every single day, all because the ragheads hate Jews. The Palestinans have no claim on that land, because they're a nomadic people. They could've settled anywhere in the Middle East, but they moved to Israel to fight a guerrilla war against the Jews.
I really have to move to Israel. Granted, I can't stand religious zealots, but that will be the last haven for people who want the right to defend themselves (carry firearms). I'd be more than happy to live with the fear of a suicide bomber taking me out, as long as my freedom was in my hands, and not the government's.
Also, instead of balling like a bunch of crybabies, the Israelis go and do something about the terror attacks on their land (they go and blow the shit out of every last one of those raghead nutjobs!).
