I believe someone talked about there being a tak on cd's and whatnot in Canada, making CD burning/ Downloading music LEGAL.

That's sheer genius.
I like bugging people. Deal with it.

Over the same period, CD single sales surged by 162.4 percent in units and 173.5 percent in revenue. This raises an interesting question.

Most file traders go after songs one at a time. They pick and choose the tunes they like. Could it be the case that consumers don't see a good value in buying an entire CD for $16.99 when all they want is a couple of songs? The hike in single sales backs up this trend.

The recent success of Apple's iTunes service would also seem to confirm this. Users of iTunes can buy one song at a time for 99 cents. Apple conveniently put out a statement today, saying it has sold 10 million songs since its service started just four months ago.

Then they think "oh I like this" and alot of the time they run out and buy the album, because they know that CDs are much better quality than downloaded music.

Did you know what the Record Industry over here were going to try and do? increase the price of CD and DVD media by 10%. So they think that we have nothing better to do than sit at home and copy music and movies. Oh, but that was still going to be illegal, they said. So basically they were trying to make us pay to do something that was still illegal. That makes me..... well lets just say it makes me mad.

I need to get STONED!!!!
why don't you think mp3.com is being sued? Testing music is good, TOO much is available on kazaa tho, and obviously many are taking advantage.

I know some bands/people that might do things like this if kids get sued on their behalf.
I know some kids who'd lie about that too -_- no but seriously they wouldn't would they? if so tell me, I'd keep that file around as insurance sure would, an extra kid to *click* here kiddie kiddie...
What the fuck are you talking about? You'd know some kids that would lie about "that" too? First what did I lie about, clarify "that". Your post seems to be entirley in reference to mine, but if it is, it makes no fucking sense.

What a crock. She should have counter sued. They're treating shared music like narcotics. They don't just drop the book on the dealer, they arrest anyone they catch in possession.

it may suck, but how can you act like it's wrong? Sure it was un MORAL to sue a 12 year old, but she still commited a crime worth suing for.

She stole from them. They found out how to catch people stealing, and they have every legal right to do something about it, such as sue.

If they want to sue, it's their right. I don't see how you wouldn't be able to understand this.

Would I have sued a 12 year old myself? no, but I still would have taken action and warned them. I'd of said something like, "Look, you're stealing from us, a pretty large fine is in your order if you don't stop" The 12 year old honor student probably would have apologized and never done it again. So yeah, THIS story sucks, but you still have to dunerstand their right and desire to be taking legal actions, they're being stolen from.

the music industry's slacking off by popping one-hit-wonders out the yin-yang and expecting the average consumer to buy an entire cd full of songs they probably wouldn't like based on that one song they heard on the radio.

so, if they download that band's cd off the internet and discover that it's complete shit, they're horrible since they didn't actually buy it to find that out.

lesson: pay the man or he'll sue your ass.

? am I the only one seeing this for the joke it really is ?

Record Sales started booming in the late 60's and 70's because of:
1) FM in STEREO . . . yeah - that was something fairly new back then.
2) 8-Tracks and the Newest medium Cassette's were doing what MP3's are
are being accused of today. T_T . . amaising how every new recording medium
get's blamed for poor record sales every 8 years or so!!!!
The biggest complaint of the 1970's was the invention of the Recordable
Cassette Stereo Recorder, "It has taken away Sales and Profits in the Thousands
of Dallars to the record Companies and should not be allowed into the Person's
house where all they have to do is Record things off of the Radio
!"
- ok, and yeah - I'm paraphrasing here; but I lived through those times!!

hmmm . . if I remember it correctly, the next Big Joke was M-TV and Stereo
Music on Television . . I don't have the resources to follow this up, but it was in the news back then of one Parent who was Sueing M-TV for turning their little Darling into a Vegetable after the parents saw no harm in their kid watching M-TV for 40 hours non-stop T_T "its curpting their minds!"

The reason I'm calling this a JOKE is because I'm old enough to have seen this BS re-lived with every new recording Medium ever made during my life! (( 1958 - present ))
I'd love to chew-out the people caught-up in this for getting involved, but HERE
is the wisdom that only AGE can bring ( think about it! ) "The Recording Industry
has Never lost a single penny in ANY sales ever made; just like Beer and Cigerette's
they have somehow managed to make a Profit from even Radio Station Play!
-- How DARE the Record Companies TURN-THIS-SITUATION into the Public's
fault for THEIR LACK of Knowing:
1) what is the best way to advertize.
2) Free -or- Free Samples are the best Advertizements of ANY Product!
3) Alway's wanting to squeeze Every Penny They Can from the ones who
they should be the most Greatful to - for Do THEIR JOB's FOR THEM!

People, like the Lamb's being lead to the slaughter, Your Being Tricked by the
record companies and you are letting them Bully You around with their Court
Bought LIES!!!

think about it

hehe - America does not suck!
All Nazi's should be shot!
Girls are not all Sugar and Spice, because very few of them really look nice!

I'm not slaming the US the way you have just slammed me;
open your eye's people!

I have nothing to hide - I've killed before in my own country and I was honored and rewarded CitizenShip in this country when they made me a full member of the Israili/American Navel Air Force back in 1979!
I know exactly what this country can do and what people like you are doing to it.
