I agree for the most part with the article, The grass is always greener on the other side, i wonder if there are people who are otaku in japan about american cartoons like the simpsons and family guy..

1) I'm not an American
2) I think once you get to college and actually try to make something of yourself, the time sort of gets tight.
Personally, I like drawing, and editing has so far been good to me. Plus, I pretty well get Japanese, so you can't say anime is purely visual to me, either.
But, I guess that is a valid view.
In general though, I think of myself as an exception, since most of my ideas focus around visualising music rather than, as John said, condensing and enchancing anime. Which reminds me - I should probably go make some AMV's...
