a) main hero is training/injured
b) minor characters serve as filler and do all the dirty work
c) main hero comes back automatically stronger than minor characters and hogs all the glory

Very good point. Exactly how many times did Goku die?

Hell, who knows. At this point he's probably giving Kenny a run for his money.
Kawaita hitomi de dareka na itekure -The Real Folk Blues, Yoko Kanno
I like it! -Indiscipline, King Crimson
If you wanna touch the sky, you must be prepared to die, and I hate cough syrup don't you? -Cough Syrup, Butthole Surfers

<quote>whine whine whine I long for the days of Mospeada or Southern Cross, where such romances are possible.</quote>
dude you sound like my grandpa... at this point I ceased to care and just fell asleep on the couch, as I do at my grandparents house. What you say is true though... Macross rocks, SC the original is ok, the Robotech Masters (SC with a Robotech spin) is a little better, Next Gen kinda sucks though and Mospeada unfortunately sucks... so you're a little misguided but not disturbingly so. Carry on <snore>
