I had mine tested by the USAF back in October of last year, due to some mental health issues (insomnia, atttention, and some related shit), and after 2 days with no sleep, they started me on the 18 hour (2 day) IQ test. I scored a 131, while this doesn't bother me, the online tests and highschool aptitude tests do. The apititude tests had been scoring me as post-collegiate level in a number of subjects since the sixth grade, but I still found some parts of school interesting. The online tests bother me even more. I have scored anywhere from 110's to 180's on those, and that's not a good collective average to go by.

I've taken some IQ tests, and realized that all they measure is capacity for logical thought, and problem-solving.

While important, this is not the only way of thinking. And, having a high IQ (meaning, being stellarly logical) is not the only way to be a genius, nor a measure of a person's creative potential.

In other words, I find it pretty flat. It's good for figuring out a certain type of capacity, but it's incapable of measuring the many others.

Supposedly, my IQ is a point below genius. Which proves that, as my old literature teacher said - "You're either incredibly lazy or a genius". In other words, it proves nothing conclusive. I tend to lean towards "incredibly lazy".

Now, the thing about "over 145 being a sort of disability" - ironically true. Maybe not in all cases, but ironically true. Knowledge is a deadly friend. Or just not a real friend at all.
I concur.

Although having a high IQ is actually beneficial for some situations such as memorizing telephone numbers, balancing your cheque book, etc.

Hey,

I took an IQ test a little over a year and a half ago at the University of Hawaii, scored a 126.

I have done a few internet ones but they scores I've recieved have varied quite a bit.

Though I do agree that an IQ test really only measures your logical thinking ability, theres are several things it doesn't measure.

Bah.

My last IQ test score was 135.

I refuse to believe I'm that smart.

I'm wasting it if I am.

Wasting it I say! WASTING IT!!

I got an IQ of 129 after taking a test on a website, but that probably doesn't count for anything. I also got 24 out of 30 on a MENSA quiz that was on a BBC page. Notwithstanding these substantial scores, I suspect that IQ is at least halfway to being a crock.

I think the IQ is supposed to be a measure of a person's inherent cognitive ability. Studies of identical vs. fraternal twins have shown that a person's IQ is influenced by genes. But then again, external factors like malnutrition and brain damage could bring a person's cognitive abilities down.

I think I can get a better feel of a person's intelligence just by talking with him or her for a while than learning about his or her IQ.
