Random occurence or no orignality in charcter design?

All of Miyazaki's female characters look the same. And sometimes the males look the same, too(in different movies.. the main characters only.)

Not counting GotF.

there are parallels btwn trigun's archvillain knives and hellsing's opponent anderson. haircut, facial expression, opponent is a character cladded in red, anderson uses blades....but just looks, the similarities are there, but not as close as the other examples posted.

Na, their hat's are no where near the same. Now, if you want someone Alucard looks like, then I have two other characters you should meet: Vash the Stampede and Dante of Devil May Cry. Now, their faces don't look the same, but they all wear long red coats, they are all superhuman, and they all have two ridiculously big guns, one of which is white and the other black. Seems a bit peculiar, no?

Isn't this kind of silly? Anime characters who do not resemble another anime character are few and far between.

Besides: long coats, the color red, funky hair, big guns, neat hats etc. are all just cool, so of COURSE they'd use them!

It's not as if there's a large variation in what is deemed "beautiful" (male or female!) in anime, and by default most main characters do not suffer from plain or less-than-pretty faces.

If you want to have fun, think of male/female lookalikes in anime

I think i made a thread about this a while back concerning rk. Sano and wolfwood are pretty darn similar with the whole "badarse" personality and giant weapons wrapped in cloth with the sad past and such. Also...
