LMAO, those are some of the most pretentiously cheesy opinions I'd seen!

Indeed. The guy deserves an extra spank for creativity.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Frankly, what we are doing is illegal in the corporate eye and I suppose the music artists can say we "rip off" or "steal" thier music and twist thier meaning as well and we hope they don't get all upset.

So as much as I hate the idea concept of what was done, all we can do is voice our opinion. I think Phade or Quu don't have the right (or really shouldn't) do anything. In the end... As unfair as it sounds, that the way it is and there is not set rules on making AMVs or should be in a hobby.

I do agree that there are moral rules that one should try to follow and try to repect the work of fellow AMV hobbyists...

We don't claim footage to be a unique product of our own, the concept of the editing and combining of video with audio is. Would you still say nothing should be done (especially since it is hosted locally) if the person hadn't changed the song either? Or if it had been a blatant rip of Shameless Rock Video, using all of the edits including the eyebrow editing, multi scene boxing, and psychadelic color show?

Besides, this is a privately owned site, even if illegal activity is allowed, it doesn't have to be allowed to everyone (as is the owners right to do as they please) >_> In fact, one could argue that by removing that vid, this site is infringing/endorsing copyright infraction less, and that the site would be a better place with that vid removed :D Though, lets not take that arguement beyond this very begining point <_<

You both make some good points. Yes, I'm well aware of the irony of this whole situation, and quite possibly there is nothing I or anyone can do about such acts of shameless plagerism. But I don't believe we should let such behavior go unnoticed or unpunished. If he can get away with it, what's to stop anyone else from doing the same?

And this goes beyond simply re-editing someone else's work. Aren't we as anime fans supposed to be far more educated and sophisticated than the low brow, average joe who thinks "cartoons are for kids"? Hasn't anime enriched you to be better thinkers, critics, and artists? We have a unique obligation to "educate" these new adolescent fans about some ethical standards we've adopted based on our experience as fans.

What's CPM's slogan?: "World Peace through Shared Popular Culture"

If other AMV editors deside to join our ranks, then there should be some unspoken guidelines they need to follow.

Auuu, that my point exactly, I think it's enough to make people aware that in this hobby this kind of action is frowned upon and as such have the right to voice our opinions and moral values.

On the other hand, my other point is that taking action such as banning someone from this site, contests, etc I feel is not the way to handle this it. If we do that, were are than passing judgment on moral vaues on an individual (and what give us that right anyway) rather than expressing our opinion or disatisfaction about it. There is a big difference...

I agree that this shouldn't be allowed even though I once too used footage from other videos. *dodges flying objects* But I made sure not to use edits and only straight footage from other vids. I know you are probably thinking how the hell is that any better but at least I am not using clips that took hours upon hours to make like one I saw that used clips from Tainted Donuts that had the two animes showing at one time. Sure the people I stole from went through the trouble of finding the footage and exporting it but at the time that was the only way I could make videos. My mom was very strict about file sharing programs and upgrading the computer so I did what I could. I know now that I should have waited but I can't go back and erase the past. :( Well thats all for me.
