It wont be complicated at all since you're editing the filmstrip, it'll automaticly update ALL the frames at once, then you simply save it as a filmstrip and it's done! The only time you actually need to do frame by frame editing is if you only want a certain part of the frames to be color balanced, in which case, you'll have to manualy select them and do the changes.
Otherwise, if it's a simple color correction to the whole frame, it'll be fast.

I think if I were doing it in Premiere, I'd made a blue color matte(File->New->Color Mask IIRC then pick your color) and set it on the timeline on a video track above the footage you want tinted blue, and then drag down the transparency rubber-band on the color matte. It basically acts like you're looking at the clip below it through a tinted gel. You'll have to experiment with how transparent to make it, but that's probably the easiest way to do it, especially if you want to have multiple clips below it and not have to make the Color Balance adjustment to all of them individually.

some scenes have different lighting, so in the end, you'll end up changing the transperency settings anyway to accomdate the new lighting.
Though that does sound like a good idea in general.

But with that wouldn't it skew all the colours in the video? Red would become purple, yellow would become green... I think what she wants to do is adjust the colour levels (RGB -> just the B channel) so that all of the colours become tinted towards blue, not mixed with blue as I'm thinking the transparency method would do.Ashyukun wrote:I think if I were doing it in Premiere, I'd made a blue color matte(File->New->Color Mask IIRC then pick your color) and set it on the timeline on a video track above the footage you want tinted blue, and then drag down the transparency rubber-band on the color matte. Nope, not at all. If you set the setting to "Multiply" It'll be fine. None of the colors will change except, they will look bluer...=PBut with that wouldn't it skew all the colours in the video? I made quick tinted images using both methods (mine and the matte suggestion), the results:
<a href="http://inhumatedesigns.tripod.com/notin ... riginal<a/>
That's the original frame, not messed with at all, straight out of premiere. You might have to copy and past the link to get the image to show, so here's the address:

<a href="http://inhumatedesigns.tripod.com/tint1.jpg">Tinted using blue matte in premiere</a>
Again, you might have to copy/paste the address to get the image to show, here's the url:

As the link title implies, this is the tinted image of the EXACT same frame using premiere's matte using a blue screen with a multiply transperency with the cut off set to 13.
<a href="http://inhumatedesigns.tripod.com/photo ... jpg">Color Balanced in Photoshop 7.0</a>
As the name implies, this is the color corrected version using Photoshop's Color Balance options.
In my opinion, the best looking image is the one done in Photoshop. It is much more vibrant and not so dead like the premiere version. Keep in mind these are very very quick color tests, so fuck around with the settings in premiere and photoshop and see which you like best! I personally find Photoshop to be an advantage over premiere's filters.
Anywho, Hope I helped.

Thanks for the examples. I want to think AfterEffects has the same color balance capability to use on video like PS does for stills/filmstrips. I'm kind of surprised Premiere doesn't (not looking at it right now so I can't check), but then Adobe is somewhat notorious for not having things in one program because they want you to have to use (and buyTokyoU15 wrote:Anywho, Hope I helped.

No prob. ^_^Thanks for the examples.
As far as After Effects is concerned...well, it has a lot more color options and it even has a tint filter, but you really need to know what you're doing to get it to look good. I was messing with it right now and it was a bit more complicated than it actually seems.
I still say the quickest and most efficient way to do it is with Photoshop though =P
I'm gonna keep messing with After Effects and I'll show you guys any GOOD results. I'll only post the better looking images than the ones done in Photoshop though (If I can even get them to look better).

nah, the quickest way is this:TokyoU15 wrote:I still say the quickest and most efficient way to do it is with Photoshop though =P
a=MPEG2Source("blah")
b=BlankClip(a, color=$3333FF) #just a random blue I picked
mergechroma(a,b,1)
where 1 is the amount you want to blend with the old one.
As you are just merging chroma info, the luminance remains untouched.

riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. DIdn't work for me.nah, the quickest way is this:
a=MPEG2Source("blah")
b=BlankClip(a, color=$3333FF) #just a random blue I picked
mergechroma(a,b,1)
where 1 is the amount you want to blend with the old one.
Quite frankly, using AVISynth is just wayt o tedious and complicated to do a simple tint. 1) Not many people know how to script and know all the commands 2) Not many people are that willing to learn it 3) God damn is it tedious to figure out a problem in the script.
I'll stick to PS, it's quick and easy for me
Though I hate you for bringing on this challenge for me...Now I have to get this shit to work with avisynth! >_<
