What's the deal with Mahoromatic?
First I see a cool "End of Evangelion" style action scene, then I see a LOT of fan service. I know Gainax made a good reason why this happens. It's just VERY unexpected.

I suppose your talking about the trailer.
The serious part - Basically shows her past and the more action related stuff that happens due to her past.
The Fan service part - This is the bulk of Mahoromatic. The series is pretty much like this part of the trailer up till like ep 9.
I personally like the trailer because it shows how freakin awesome both parts of the series are.

Very odd series... but I have enjoyed it quite a bit so far. Seen up through ep12 (1st season). Looking forward to 2nd season.
There is a mix of elements here- lots of comedy and fan service, but then there are some very serious and even some quite moving and touching moments too. At first I thought "Her wish is to be a maid?" but when it is explained why she chose to be Seguru's maid it makes sense and is touching. (won't spoil it for ya though). The teacher is hilarious (and ridiculous).
Don't watch it looking for lots of action. Even some of the more intense action is broken up by other scenes, often of comedy.
