Gee whizz! Look at what I stepped in![reconstructing frames]
I stepped in the X movie DVD.
First, I want to say that this movie must have been interlaced by Satan himself. I want to reconstruct the original movie frames and I'll do whatever it takes to acomplish it. What filters/scripts/unholy chants from the necronomicon must I use to get it back to the way it should be?

So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

I did an X AMV last year... and I promised myself to not do it again
The bottomline is: it's not possible to reconstruct the original frames, since the idiots who produced the DVD put interlace artifacts in both the even and odd fields (basically it's possible to reconstruct only 1 frame out of 5
)
My suggestion at this point would be just to not IVTC and deinterlace instead (or, if you are brave enough, do the IVTC and then deinterlace what's left).
I really, really, really share your pain man...

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Isn't there a way to manually IVTC a movie in TMPG? I mean, there must be SOMETHING?? I just want it to stand on the record that I WILL sell my soul to the devil if that's what it takes.

would you like screens? I'd be more than happy to share the pain.

Any ideas for deinterlacing and then removing the extra frames?

Which is what I want to aviod. I only want ot kill the frames that shouldn't be there. (Which I'm guessing would be the frames with the ghosting after I deinterlace.) Which brings me back the the manual IVTCing.

a long while ago when I was just noob learning deinterlacing methods, I ran into the same problem when trying to rip and reencode the X movie. One method that worked...but I wouldn't recommend trying unless you were really...REALLY depserate...is to use Vdub's "Field Bob" filter, using smooth on both odd and even fields. As I said, unless you are really desparate and there is no other way, then you should try this, cause your not gonna get the best results from it.
