They're not "released" yet, but AbsoluteDestiny, MeriC, VegettoEx, Vlad Pohnert, and Doki (to name a few) have made some kickass tracks for the upcoming DDR3 :) I won't outright say that they blow away what's come before, but they are damn good.
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

Of the existing ones (i.e., released):

Scott Melzer's AM-3P - Gundam Wing/08th MS team

turboneko's Let's Get Down - Azumanga Daioh

Nightowl's Oh Nick Not So Quick - Akazakin Chacha (this video is just so delightfully WRONG)

VicBond007's Make it Better - Puni Puni Poemi ( the whole 'edit' sequence it just too amusing )

I've heard incredible things about this year's project vids though, so those are likely to change. There aren't many of them that I dislike, those above are just the ones that I dinf myself watching the most.

And even though it's not part of the DDR Projects-

Zarxrax's Boom Boom Dollar- Super Gals! Kotobuki Ran
Bob 'Ash' Babcock
Electric Leech Productions

Fave DDR vidos:

Post by Split pea soup » Mon Aug 25, 2003 3:58 pm

Well...I really hated about 99.1% of the videos for the DDR Project 2. The only video I was really feeling was Eric Kobet's Little Bitch. For me, it was the only video that felt good as soon as it went on to the point of when it went off. Other than that some other things were only like half likes, because it either started out good and ended bad or started bad and ended good. Other's though I don't know about. After watching that whole entire thing at Otakon 2003, we went to AMV contest and it felt like a breath of fresh air.

As for the DDR Project 1, I dont know the creators, but I was feeling the Captain Jack video with the Tank Dominion Police, Captain jack's The Race, NightOwl's Oh Nick Please not so Quick, and El Ritmo Tropical.

I think for the most part, that was the music's fault. 2nd Mix has just awful music to work with, and it's hard to make something palatable with crap like that. 4th Mix is going to be great...much more energetic, better mix of music, etc...

DDR Project 2 was a HUGE improvement from the first one in terms of quality and originality. In the first one, there was TOO MANY scenes of Tenchi Muyo, Urusei Yastura, and Ranma 1/2. Plus there's this ONE video which I considered HORRIBLE (I'm not going to mention any names).

Well...this might sound a little strange, but I really like the music of the DDR 2nd Mix. It isn't my favorite mix in the whole entire world, but I like it nonetheless. I know that if you don't like what you have, like the music in this example, you tend to not do such good work, which I very much understand, BUT...as a creator, but more as an artist, you owe it to yourself to try really hard, as hard as you can to overcome obstacles. It only makes you better as an artist, but more so as a person.

When I read up Eric's little thing on this site he expressed the fact that he was not too sure about the song, but I had to give him his props for overcoming his little obstacle and busting out with a terrific video that almost made the whole thing worth sitting through. I mean, there are a lot of good songs that people have screwed up also. I won't name any particular videos, but I think it has more to do with what you do with the video to the song that makes you stand out. Like at this AMV contest at Otakon 2003, I hated many of the songs, but since the video was good, I could bear it.

As for that 4th Mix, I'm really eager to see it nonetheless and yeah that The Race video was really hot. ::wipes away a tear:: It was cool.

I agree about the technical aspect of it and that more footage was used, but in terms of storytelling and substance I found the 1st project a bit more bearable.

Totally agree. This project really sets the bar even higher. I've seen ~10 tracks and almost all of them are amazing and "better" than the previous project IMO.

Trythil's track is also good.

Wow will the shameless semi self-promotion ever stop?
