I'm going to invest in a Remington Model 870 chambered in 16 gauge, just incase my parents decide they need to get on my case anymore. My parents have been playing head games with me since I was born, and whenever I show any sign of independence, they try to shut me up, and tighten the leash.
You might want to look into counciling for your self....When you really think about it, is it worth it? oh wait....you have guns don't you? *runs away* lol I kinda know how you feel though, and I sympathize with you. I get along with my mom most of the time....

All this talk about dominance via violence makes me remember how full of shit people in threads really are!saithen wrote:Toecutter wrote:

I don't want to kill them. I just want to make sure they don't have all the bases covered. Right now, the only weapon I have is the .22 rifle they bought me as a birthday gift. Of course, they refuse to transfer the registration to my name, so if I upset them, they can say it's "their rifle", take it away from me, and hold it over my head while gloating about their continued manipulation of me.
I want to buy a shotgun, so those fuckers can't threaten to take "their rifle" away from me as a means of control, because I would still have "my shotgun", and I'm plenty smart enough to make sure they don't know where I keep it or the ammo. The whole point of giving me a .22LR rifle was a slap in the face anyway. They more than trust me with AR-15's (that's the civilian market designation for the M-16 rifle), handguns, shotguns, and anything else. My father even spoke on several ocassions of getting a Ruger Mini-14 (a .223 Remington, or 5.56mm NATO for you non-enthusiasts out there, detachable-magazine version of the M-1 Garand) as a Christmas gift for me, or a Kel-Tec collapsible composite assault rifle in 9x19mm. While I appreciate the economy of .22LR ammo ($4 for a box of 100 high velocity, JHP rounds), the 10/22 is used mostly by 10 year-old kids just getting into shooting sports (like Boy Scouts).
This conflict isn't about me wanting a high-powered rifle as a gift, but more about my parents telling me they trust me, and then betraying the trust I put in them trusting me. They think I'm just a crazed, psychotic, half-wit son of a bitch who doesn't deserve their respect. That's all I've ever wanted. I never cared about their love, worldly posessions, wealth, etc. All I wanted was for them to mean what they say about trusting me. Of course, they never meant it, and still continue to belittle me any chance they get.
Just a few days ago, I was helping my dad, out of the goodness of my heart, to put in a few 2x4 studs for the bathroom we're renovating. As usual, all he does is criticize me about how stupid I am, how I'm having difficulty pumping a few wood screws into a 2x4 (which he is holding free-hand at bizarre angles, with no means for me to get a straight shot at the wood). When he couldn't get it to work right, it's all of a sudden my fault.
In a way, my father and I have the Gendou/Shinji thing going. Of course, Shinji doesn't have the highly aggressive tendencies to just want to kick Gendou's ass, and Gendou's too under control of his emotions to lash out randomly. A better description of my father/son relationship, would be two wolves fighting a cold war for the Alpha Male role.

Yeh, Toecutter. The only reason you're a victim is the fact that you are letting yourself become one. Don't become complacent towards your situation. I've been victimised before (albeit at school) and one day i just snapped. Went absolutely beserk. Laid into this irish fuckwits arm with a huge wood file, the type you use in manual arts. By the time the teacher stopped me, this kids arm was three times its original size, and bleeding. Alot. I'd inflicted this damage through 2 t-shirts with the blunt side of the file. I must say, after this little "incident", no-one at that school EVER tried to get one over me again.Mr Pilkington wrote:Seek counsel
The moral of the stroy is: Really really really let them know how you feel. Like Kevin Spacey says in SE7EN: "You can't just walk up to someone and tap them on the shoulder anymore. You have to hit them with a sledgehammer. Then you'll notice you have their undivided attention." He is speaking metaphorically of course, but its clear what he means. Make your case in screaming obvious terms, in a way that not even the most ignorant backwards miscreant could misunderstand, and you may just come out on top.
As for me, I get on fine with my parents. Now. When i was younger (im 20 now) I was not exactly the best kid on earth. Alot of verbal battles, when I hit 17-18, a few physical ones with my dad and stepdad. Thats all gone now though. I get on with my family brilliantly.
