PC Help
Okay about a week after I got my PC, it restarts for no reason. I think its my processor. I tweaked it to go at 1GHz but I obviously want it to go faster. I have an ASUS A7N8X and an Athlon XP 2400.

I prey that's a typo. Check your internal temperature, if 80C+ U need fans of doom. Uber hot CPU+ Massive Crinos Videocard(s) + other wickedly hot perifs = Lost of pain.

I know I am underclocking. I am trying to get it at 2 GHz, er at least 1.5GHz. Right now my CPU is running at 98 degrees and my MoBo is at 82 degrees. I have four fans, i have 2 more fans i need to install. but they are on the front o' my case. Should I tweak the BIOS some how?

The Athlon XP 2400+ runs out of the box at ~2 GHz...if you really have the motherboard you have, the only way you could be running a 2400+ at 1 GHz is to have tweaked the heck out of the front-side bus clock speed. So yes, check the BIOS.shadow-the-hedgehog wrote:I know I am underclocking. I am trying to get it at 2 GHz, er at least 1.5GHz. Right now my CPU is running at 98 degrees and my MoBo is at 82 degrees. That, or you really don't have an XP 2400+.
Specify which temperature scale you're using. 98 degrees Fahrenheit is more than pretty good. If that's the case, I doubt it's a temperature issue.
If it's 98 degrees CELSIUS, though, I'm surprised your system isn't destroyed yet...
