I don't see a copywrite on it.
That won't be a problem, because TokyoU15 is Senpai Productions, not Sempai.
Same difference.

Senpai Productions then.

This person entered this studio into the database, but I don't think they were the first :P

LOL, now THAT's copyrighted...shame on that person.

oh and NDW, it's COPYRIGHT...not "Copywrite".

Most of you people are missing the fucking point. It's not about holding a copyright, I'm sure Ermac wouldn't like it if I put myself under "Ermac Studios", and I'm sure he would bring it to my attention. Same goes for everyone else.

Well, I just did a search and came up with nothing. Nobody wants to pretend to be part of my studio, since I haven't made anything good :P
Everyone is not the same as you.
Get over it.
And lighten up.

Well, anyone can choose whatever studio when they enter their video information.... blame it on that.

A few things...

He's not claiming to be part of Senpai Productions. It says in the description "This video was created by Kestral." (which is wrong, but I'll get to that in a minute) This video should have been a proxy entry.

There is a group of AMV creators that use sempai.org to host their video information. http://www.sempai.org/videos/ ("A Taste Of India" is by Catnip, not Kestrel) I guess what this person did was choose Senpai Productions as the studio when they were listing it, since it was the closest thing to Sempai that they could find.

As an aside, apparently there are two videos in the AWA Pro contest both using the same studio name, but by two people who are totally unaware of each other.

hhmm, very interesting how all this turned out.

ANd I do remember seeing Sempai.org a long time ago, I thought it was inda weird considering Senpai Productions, didn't think much of it at the time because of the different spelling.

Eh, shit happens I guess.

Sempai.org was one of my first exposures to AMVs; I think I found them from google or bigmog. Yay, nostalgia. 8)

Anyway, I'd blame it on people not having a clue what "studio" actually means. I actually didn't know for a while myself, when I started.

Okay, so please enlighten me: what DOES it mean? I've got "Studios" in my studio name, even though it's a one-person operation so far, and I'd hate to think I was misusing the word.

A studio is a group of people who work together in one facility on media based projects (i.e. a sound studio, film studio, photo studio). It usually refers to a specific place in which these people work. Skywalker Ranch is a studio, for a geeky example. It's like an office for artists, and it always consists of more than one person - unless you're in the AMV world, in which case it's usually one person at his/her parent's house.

At least, that's the industry definition, which isn't exactly the true meaning of the word studio anyway... but in this case, it works.

Sometimes a studio is reffered to as a production house or office, which is wrong. At a studio work is produced. At a production office, work is destroyed then put out to the masses because they have lots and lots of money.

But then, all of these words have become interchangeable now... they've become buzz words that copywriters are forced to use for corporate babble memos.

I'm not jaded. I swear.
