Officially it's "One" by U2, because it has an uplifting yet somewhat melancholy sound, and a lyric that can be taken as uplifting OR melancholy depending on how you read it. I also like songs that start out quiet and build up to a fuller sound, which that does. It's kind of spare, but ... melodic.
Though the Smiths' "Shoplifters of the World Unite" a big, relatively bright anthem of a song) isn't far behind.

"Man, I gave my grammar mojo on right now."
Don't mean to be picky, ErMaC, but that doesn't grammatically make any sense. Now I'll assume it's a typo although I could say you used the wrong word and were mistaken
. If you had excluded the word "on," then it would have made sense, just sounded weird. Or if you had written "have" instead of "gave".

Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

As for favorite song... I don't have just one. That would be near impossible. My favorite depends on my mood.
When I'm feeling angry... "Master of Puppets" by Metallica because it is so furious.
When I want to listen to an awesome ballad... "Fiddler on the Green" by Demons and Wizards.
When I feel like listening to 80s music... "Sunday Bloody Sunday" by U2.
Well I'm felling solemn... "Cursum Perficio" by Enya.
Something happier... "In a Lifetime (feat. Bono)" by Clannad.
So I'd have to say those are the five songs that I'd basically call my favorite

fave song: gods this is hard. "Empty Words" by Death unless it's 3 in the morning, I've just finished something, all the windows are open, the lights are out, and there's a cold wind coming through.....in the which case "At The Heart Of Winter" by Immortal isn't a luxury, it's a NECESSITY.
fave non-metal song: "Untitled 3" by Kawashima Mirai. Nifty techno from the mad genius behind Sigh.
fave song I've actually done as an AMV: "Skyland" by Solar Signs. Maybe this should be a tie with "Zombie Ritual" by Death.
fave song I haven't done as an AMV --yet....: "In The Wordless Chamber" by Emperor. hehe...wait for this one, it's gonna slaughter.

Agalloch rules. Buy their stuff, even if you aren't into metal.
