I edit for the same reasons every else does...it's a fun and enjoyable hobby to create (well we are using someone else's song and anime) something.

As a corollary, it's also because I sometimes get these visions to certain songs and when they grow and grow (i.e. I can see most of the song), I have to edit or it'll annoy the hell out of me. That's actually how most of my videos are conceived.

I thought the question was "Why do you edit?" Not "Why <b>don't</b> you edit?"

As for me- largely the same as everyone else, it's a lot of fun. You meet lots of neat and fun people (and Canadians). I initially got into it because some friends and I thought, "Hey, I wonder if we could make an AMV to this." and set out to do so. Some 7 years later (with a 5 year sabbatical), I'm still at it.
