A newbies theory

Hey I was thinking and I was thinking hard for a second. I am a newbie to the art of doing Amv solo.

I think I figured out a muchmore easier way for newbies to make very crude but decent AMVs the first time through.

I got the file called DVDX off of Kazzaa, I think its free ware but not to sure I also got adobe Sixoff of Kazaa, if it is free ware I honestly hadnt checked.

Well I looked at the video capturing guides a-m-v.org had and I realized that wouldnt it be easier if we first ripped then converted then use WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER to do the rough cuts then do the fine job of adding effects and specialties in Premiere for DVD video?

With dvdx U an able to convert very very simpler, but thats from a Newies standpoint.

With dvd cryptoe you can rip them before conversion or compression.. I honestly dont kno what you call it.

Then you use the AVI files in WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER to do the big cutsand the rough trims

From there you save the file and then you can use it in Premeire, right?

And if I amnot mistaken you can do things like strip away the audio and do special effects Right?

Is this an easier method or did I just make an ass out of myself?

So you are saying that N00b's have to learn two programs... WMM and Premiere?

Isn't that just making things harder. Alright maybe WMM is more user friendly and stuff but anything in WMM can be done in premiere so why learn two programs?

Most people migrate from WMM to other software anyway.

And don't say you got liceanced software (adobe I dunno about DVDX) off Kazaa that's just asking to be flamed.

The guides on this site give a lot of help even if most of it is premiere orientated. If only we N00bs would read it

the point of doing it the way of the guides is quality. DVDx is severely inferior to the dvd2avi + avisynth method described in the guides. It may be easier, but it's worse and infinitely less flexible.

Yeah, Kazaa is evil, and we don't openly admit to using it whether for software or fotage. Also, if you're using wmm, there's no need to use Premier to get effects - wmm 2.0 has plenty, and it's a free upgrade from the microsoft website. And honestly, dvd rips are much better quality - if you can't decipher the guides, you can probably get people to explain a little on how to use DVDdecryptor - but really, it's avisynth that's the problem, not dvddecryptor. >.>

Actually you CAN rip dvds with it, but it's not easy so yeah.

About usin WMM to do a "rough cut" - if you're working with a large original file size WMM absolutely cannot handle it (I've not tested its limits to the point where my computer will NOT crash upon attempting to load a file).

This sort of negates your whole theory, but maybe use Premiere to hack up clips from the originals, then import them to WMM and do your fiddling, then send them back to Premiere? I am currently involved in nightly battles with Premiere to make it cooperate on a consistent basis with me - so far it's won every round.

That is the method that I use, except I use Vegas.

personally I use the smart ripper flask/ mpeg combo (huffy). I
wish I new how to use avisnyth or how find a decent
working copy somewhere
