First year in college

This is my way of killing an avatar that people didn't want me to change

Tomorrow I'll put something that goes along with my personality, like the good old phone and nose-picking pics.

On the more on-topic side, I've just finished registring for all my courses this week - had a bit of a problem because of the ever-stupid online regisration system and the fact that the courses get filled up quick this year (due to a certain change in the school system in our province).

Looks like I have linguistics, history, linguistics, japanese, and more linguistics. Keeping my fingers crossed it's as good or better than last year...

Strongly suggest Japanese as an elective course. It's a toughie, but you get to learn stuff you could use for anime, and as I found - the class groups are generally lots of fun (a lot of fun, social people many of whom are into anime). That was my experience, anyways.

im in a college not too far from RIT ... and i will be transferring there or to RPI in another 3 years .. because the smaller college im attending now only has the basic engineering programs .. so i will have to transfer out to finish up my schooling

I didn't quite fit in with the rest of my peers; taking College Math and chemistry while in my 10th year of high school.
Once I saw where college was taking me, I left!
As I look back on that weird event it seem strange, today, that I'm teaching at the same college I dropped out of for failing English!!

English and Grammer never made any sence to me; however my wife excels in this area and doesn't have a clue when it comes to what I teach and understand.
She also teaches at the college; holds two Masters and a Doctorate in Bio-plant-stuff T_T

Do I regret not finishing college? . . oh-yes; but my experiance's are what get's me in the Door when it comes to opportunities for advancement while she has to test for everything

( she knows the stuff - but has a hard time making others believe it! )

College requires three things:
1) an unshakable personnality.
2) the ability to express yourself ( even when it comes to reading what you've written and saying what you wrote in front of the class. )
3) ( everyone screw's up this one their first year! ) having time to research what your studing Reguardless of how long it takes.

there are no short-cut's in life -or- in college! . . think about it; you'll be glad you did 8)

I'm about to start my third year of college and so far there have been more highs then lows. Here are a few things I've learned so far:

1. There is no guarentee that you'll get along with your roommate. I had two and I hated one with a passion of a million suns.

2. If you make friends with people in the dorms, take classes with them. There are two reasons for this, you can study together, and cement your friendship even more.

3. You DO NOT have to go out to clubs, get laid and get drunk in order to make friends. Trust me there are just as many people out there who don't do that stuff as there are those who do.

4. As mentioned earlier, take classes that sound interesting. You may never get the chance to do it again.

5. And lastly, don't be scared if you suddenly realize that you are no longer the same person you were when you started school. It just means that you have grown as a person, be proud.

2. Don't expect to associate with the same people that you talk to in orientation or whatever. I've heard this happens often, but I didn't get to know either of my groups of friends/acquaintances (the dorm group, and the classmate group) till sophomore year. The people I hung out with in freshman year turned out to be wankers, for the most part. Also, don't expect to become bestest friends with any of your roommates automatically. Probably the smoothest-running roommate situation that I had was with the one I had the least in common with. We just set up ground rules and left each other alone. Worked out pretty well.

This is exactly the situation I had last year. We had pretty much nothing in common, we had different circles of friends, and we were both very considerate of each other (he probably moreso than I). It worked out very well.

But he's moving to a different dorm where more of his friends are, and I'm moving to a different floor that isn't quite as dead. It was sorta boring on the first floor.

Actually, almost everyone is friendly and considerate where I go to.

first year rocked!

then i started getting bad grades and suddenly i'm back in 4th grade w/ my parent's nearly beating the shit out of me. o-o

lol but really....

college isn't as bad as they make it out to be. ^_^; you just become poor as can be, homesick for real food, worked to death and only recieve a C average and then die from the stress the beer gives you after a final. XD yeah......not so bad.....
