shut up, I know you guys have the most deadly, poisonous, 8 feet tall kangaroo rats in there somewhereCardinal.jpg wrote: 2. I am from Australia and know as well as you that it is not some huge problem in built up areas. Like kangaroos through the windscreen not much deadly creature shit goes down where people can be found. Yes there are exceptions but not enough to boast that we live in some Steve Irwin world of death. I haven't even seen any of deadly creatures metioned here except the red back and it is not a particularly ferocious creature.
This.....will give you nightmares..... [spider pics]

You don't have to worry about it that because most chances are you won't work in building maintenance and if you do I would imagine problem areas would be eradicated with pesticide first other wise they wopuld be up forSS5_Majin_Bebi wrote:
Did you know the death adder, Eastern Coastal Taipan and King Brown (all "outback" snakes) are really quite common in rural and urban environments?

Oh, but its not some huge problem in built up areas. You wouldn't have to worry about performing building maintenance in the city and getting attacked by a brood of funnel web spiders, or the odd nest of snakes now would you?

a) real pain
b) publicity pain
c) compo pain
I would imagine that over half the population of Australia has seen a max of two of these deadly creatures in their lives in an uncontained environment. I would say that for all my friends and family that would hold true and we come from country and city environments. The only case I personally know of someone getting attacked was a friend who got bitten by a funnel web but it was the suck one (m or f I'm not sure) so he was in very little danger. He didn't spend a night in hospital, he didn't get the wound bandaged, he even forget about the incident the next day at school, thats how minor it was.
Don't try and give everybody else the impression we live in some incredibly hostile environment and everybody has to on their toes to kill the hordes of creature that enter their circle of personal space to stay alive.

The scariest spider I ever encountered was when we were trecking through some hills. I must have stepped near her because a fairly large wolf spider came out at me with babies on her back. That was the most intimidating spider I've ever seen -_- I screamed and ran down the hill like a little girl. I'm such a wuss.
I think I have come across a brown recluse before since they are common in this area. My first instict when I saw the funny marking on it's back was to squish.
