AMV series?
Anybody else ever done this? I mean...like...the video for one song will narrate part of an anime. Then the next song picks up where it left off. Or something like that.

Interesting idea
I'm not sure if you would want to narrate a part of an anime, using a series of AMV's to retell the story of the original anime seems counterproductive. I think that it would be more interesting if you could use a series of AMV's to tell a wholly original story. It could be based on an anime, or be something completely different and new.

How do you mean? If your using an Anime, the story is already there, so it can't be entirely original.Nurd wrote:I'm not sure if you would want to narrate a part of an anime, using a series of AMV's to retell the story of the original anime seems counterproductive. Maybe not, but you can still try to tell a new story with the anime footage. DigitalGod's The One I Love Is... is based on a fanfic, and I think he pulled off the story pretty well.

No, it's possible to bend the visual content to tell your own story. However, doing it the way you imply is an interesting idea. But the problem is - there is a lot of short series (I mean, most series are only 26 eps!), and you can't do too many videos with such series - lest you want to get repetitive.
Frankly, I'd like to do a series to a music album with different anime series sometime, but lack of time...

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Yeh, I've been thinking of doing that for a while, as my next superproject.Otohiko wrote:Frankly, I'd like to do a series to a music album with different anime series sometime, but lack of time...
And I think I get what y'all are saying. Retelling a story that is, of course, in the anime, but not readily noticed. Am I right?

You can retell a story that's in the anime - most romance vids are exactly that, as well as most action vids, and the drama and so on. Or you can take the footage and twist it to tell a story that was never intended - even a story that contradicts what is inherent in the anime. Either way it depends on the execution and the story itself - originality isn't just making stuff up that wasn't in the anime, it's the entire package. ^_^
