Why aren't people like this being sued?
I was working at the theater the other day.. My theater is at a mall.. and there were a couple guys that called to me from down the mall and were like "Do you like music?" and I was like "Yeah." so they came over.
They had some CD binders and a backpack, and I had seen similar people before - Promoting indipendent music.
"So what is this, local artists?" I asked.
"No, no.. Basically, we buy the CD, and then we can make copies for you. just 5 bucks a CD."
I was pissed.
Why the hell are people sharing mp3's at no profit to themselves on the internet being sued to high heaven, when MF's like these are out making money off mall crowds being ignored?
I bet there's people like this all over the damn place.

you -almost- got it right ( your soo close !!! )
. the problem with MP3's are that people can assemble an entire CD and convert it back into the Original CD's and sell these bootleg's
. on the other side of the coin, you have people ( like me ) who grew-up in the 60's and 70's and used to by the Full Length Albums for just one song ( which was sometimes depressing! ) . . later on, as Rock died, we began to notice that there only was one song which we liked - from any artist ( and we wanted only that song! )
. Black Market CD's and Single Songs have not really had that much of an impact on Major Labels and Recording Groups; its the over-night wanta-be's that are complaining that "people are not hearing our CRAP"
. the LAW Suit's is not being done by those who know the business, its being brought-on by the wieny little "you owe me a living" whimps!
. any time there is a LAW Suit someone doesn't know the Rules or has become the Victum of some off-the-wall law which no one has ever heard of . . there is no in-between
. . next time you see a LAW Suit, try to figure-out who is inj the wrong and/or what might have started it ( and screw opinions; they are not the FACT's which the Courts will hear arguments thereof ^^ )

I've gotten in fights before, seriously.Garylisk wrote:I was working at the theater the other day.. My theater is at a mall.. and there were a couple guys that called to me from down the mall and were like "Do you like music?" and I was like "Yeah." so they came over.

I'd of acted like they were cool, looked through their binder. If I twas all crtap I'd of just said no thanks and let it go.
If there was an artist in there I either know personaly or respect, I seriously would have fucking swung at them.
I've nearly been arrested a couple times for the brutal fights I started (this was over some of my closest friend sin the music industrey)

Your avatar shows how you and most other people feel when they do this... Plus, with them doign that, they're making profit for what they didn't pay for and aren't licensed to sell or some shit... Back before I like anime, someone came up to me and said "I'll give you all this anime for only $50" There was some good stuff in there that I can remember, but it was all on CD-R and like 9-10 ep PER CD, since I didn't know what it was, I said "Get this shit outta here" and walked off... Then security arrested him |:Garylisk wrote:I was working at the theater the other day.. This is sorta like that AMV on eBay thing, not asking permission and making cash off of someone elses hard work and dedication...
Note to all who create AMV's: if you get a message from me stating that I'd like to give a friend some AMV's, then think of it as good curtisy and stuff...

Most of the record labels I'm affiliated with don't release singles, they release [EP]s. What an [EP] is, is a really SMALL and cheap CD. They tend to have all the singles on them from any given albu, and a bonsu track or two that wasn't released on any albums. Bands also tend to release these BEFORE their full length is due out.ithaqua wrote:Well, I've noticed the HMV in town has started making a LOT of room for singles. Maybe the record company's are hoping cheaper prices for the "one good song" will sell more records.
Sure saved me money on the new Blur song!
Rufio is a good example. The released their RUFiO [EP] in March or somehting like that. It had songs on "Don't Hate Me" "Set It Off" and "Why wait?" It also was enhanced, so it had bonus video on it of the band and stuff. This CD was only like $2.99. "Don't Hate Me" was never released on their full length album "1985" when it came out on June 17th, so there's some bonus for everyone who bought the [EP] And having the two other songs on it gave everyone a pretty decent preview of the album to come. Now that the Album is out the [EP] is still in print because "Set It Off" and "Why Wait" are singles. So now isntead of buying a single for either song, they spend $2.99 and get all this awsome stuff.
Singles only make VERY mainstream bands money. Like if the song has been on MTVs TRL or something.

thats sick ... if you look at it this way it makes sense. MP3's are shared over computers, and therefore are easily tracable. Bootleg/counterfit cd's on the other hadn are not that easily traced, it usualy would take a much larger amount ofmoney to track these peopl edown and get what ever evidence they need to file a suit against them. People are jstu taking teh easy route and going for teh easiest, and cheapest people to cruixify ... being us ... as for me personaly ... i don't care ... the rciaa can do whatever the fuck they want ... it won't change how i think or what i do. I will abide by my own code of ethics that i justify with my own reasoning, not the code that they justify with a dollar sign.
