CD Problems...
Ok, I've got my very first amv master's cd that's like oh, over 3 years old...
Now I'm getting this error message:
"Cyclic Redundancy Error"
And nothing will burn/copy/play... [not good, my first favs and best vids/MADs are on this thing!!!]
What's going on?

It's something to do with how bad scratches are on the CDs.
I have a program that can fetch the files off the CDs, but I haven't tried it fully yet. I tried to retreive a 50MB file off a bad CD with it and it took an hour to retreive 2MB of the file. O_O
I'll send the prog to you if you want, PM me if you want it.

CD-Rs, especially cheap, crapy ones made by Ritek or CMC Magnetics, or even worse companies like K-hypermedia, have a nasty habit of going bad, sometimes even if you properly store them in a cool, dark place.
The best suggestion I can give you, is to try IsoBuster. It has recovery and multi-format reading abilities that may help you get back most or all of the contents of that, or other discs you have that are going bad.
I'd suggest having a careful look at any other CDs of the same or similar brand and age you have lying around, you may want to get your data off any that are giving you trouble, and burn them to new discs after recovery.

first off, this cd is crystal clean...
[flawless, no dust, no dirt, no scratches]
I just watch them once a month to remember the WHY I became an amv editor...
But it's been sitting "dormant" in my cd shelf "ignored" by me for a long time...
I had no idea CDs can decompose over a matter of unused time...
hmmm...
ghey
I wonder if DVDs suffer the same fate... [if so, fuck I'm going to keep tabs on my tapes. They STILL deliver the same quality of nice clean anime DESPITE the fact that they're old as frek]

Hold the CD up to the light (label facing away from you) and see if there are any near-microscopic holes in the protective coating. If there is, the CD is less than useless, and this kind of flaw is very easy to miss on an otherwise flawless CD. And it affects ALL cd's, including music ones from the shop, like, PROPER cd's.

Yep, I've had tons of them. Very annoying. I lost a lot of files I wanted.
