Of course noe. And I don't mean to have an opinions on the superiority, inferiority, or comparative value of video games, or anything even deep and interesting. Remember, I am not an expert, and IANALATEIHSMTBSI. (remembers the apple jacks adverts)

Interesting. I never thought a game which involved blowing things up could be so popular. I might try it sometime.

Then why did you start a topic just to ask "I don't like them, so why on earth would ANYONE like them?!"

You could ask the same thing of anime, chum. Just pointing out the enormous holes in logic. But I don't think you grasped that. S'okay.

Might want to get your head out of your ass before you play, though; it does wonders for visibility. 8)

People play Quake because it's fun to kill things and they can't do it in real life without going to jail.

We still play 3 player Quake 3 Arena here on the LAN at my house. There's just something so satisfying about blowing up your friends with rockets and stuff. I honestly think that first person shooter games are, for the most part, boring... but for some reason, good old fashioned multiplayer deathmatch never loses it's fun factor completely :) I remember my first deathmatch.. back in 1993 over at my stepdad's friend's house.. he had 4 486 machines networked, and we played Doom. It was more fun than I'd ever had :)

Amen. There's a big letter in the word human. It's H! [for HENTAI!]

Hentai also translates to "mutant"/"mutation".

We are weirdos in nature. I stand by the fact that anybody who joins this org is abnormal in one way or another.

Terminator Model 101 said it best:
"It's in your nature to destroy yourselves."

I must admit, when you use either skill or cunning (Teamfortress Classic and Counterstrike pwn...) to defeat other humans, it's well, fun! It's fun to blow stuff up!

It's everyone's inner desire to do something that degrades and destroys other things. Some like it more than others... SarahtheBoring's snappy remarks. I love those. Dey kill me! ^_^

If you deny your H[entai], you deny your humanity. That makes you less human. (honestly, since when EVER does someone NOT want to just see a HUGE wake of destruction occur?)

Without your H, you're not even human, you're uman...

Why do people play games such as Quake which are plot-thin? Or watching plotless anime, porn, etc?

Is it just that some people are into viewing images with lots of violence, blood and gore? Or is it something else?

P.S.
Sorry if I insulted andbody. Disclaimer: I am clueless. Additionally, I am not an expert of any kind, and remember, YANALATEYHSMBSI.
Quake 2 ... terrible plot ... shitty single player AI ... but great on multi player ... you don't need a super computer to run it, jsut a decnet inter net connection and you can blow the fuck out of some kid. Plus theres lots of mod patches out for it ... like WOD (Weapons Of Destruction) ... <sigh> the slug cannon ... one of my favorites.

Anime porn ... hentai and any other name it may go by ... well thats just a mystery ... actualy it' snot ... were either horny and looking for a cheap laugh, or just looking for a cheap laugh.

Gore/snuff images ... meh, i find it interesting to see what people manage to have done to themselves ... besides ... you don't know the meaning of the word disturbing untill you see somone who puts a shot gun in their mouth and fails to successfully kill themselves. Or when you see the early stages of human decomposition.
