In a general sense, the org is amv school.

There are guides, tech question forums, and, however flawed, the review system. Even having one place to discover and download so many new vids is educational.

I doubt I would ever have figured out all the techniques and tricks I routinely use while making videos if it wasn't for this place.

Sure, there's a lot of crap to wade through, and egos to deal with, but how is that different from any other school? The goods are here, if you are patient enough to stick around and read through a lot of stuff.

Simply put, welcome to amv school.

In creating groups of editors who are "experts," all you're doing is dividing the community into "masters" and "n00bs." Everyone complains about elitism and whatnot and yet...this is doing just that. Saying that Person A IS the source for timing or action or effect, etc. is just going to create a division in the community that is not necessary.

Now, I do understand that this is to help people with their videos and that is a noble cause however, this is not the way to do it. If you want advice on a video, ask for an opinion in the forums or PM a person you think will provide good feedback. There is no need for us to create a group that is "official" for this very purpose. You're just going to cause divisions and tension.

So in summary, although I am all for people getting better, I do not think creating groups of "experts" is the best way to do it. What is preventing you from asking yourself? The means are already there.

Can you restrict admittance to AMV creators who can *edit*? I'd hate to see a tide of thoughtless high effects music videos -_-; ("ooh, we don't really need this, but let's add a lens flare here")
