. Bob Hope will be remembered for what he did durring a time of war - USO Girls, Raising funds for Clothes to homeless children . . .
. but, as they have stated in the Anime "Stellvia of the Universe," there hasn't been a World War sence the 1940's and all of those people whome he had Entertained - he out lived them T_T
. its not that we don't know Bob Hope, Jack Benny, Johnny Carson, James Bond, its that we no longer need them for the Entertainement that they Created - and THAT must have been heart-breaking to live through!
T_T does anyone remember who invented the wheel ?

He will be missed. I agree with EC this must be where we show our age, generation. I too remember his movies, he was very funny (for his time). A lot of younger people I know only knew him by "name" so to speak, or by old movie and news clips from the war tours, and do not find him very funny (I find this rather sad). He really did a lot during the war to boost morale both with the military personnel as well as the general public. My uncle remembers seeing him when he was on one of his many USO tours, he provided a vaulable service to this country. We have been fortunate to live in times with out "real all out world wars" or "depressions". My grandmother used to talk about how she would hear his broadcast on the radio, the whole family would gather around the radio to listen and he would make them laugh and they really needed that at that time. I cant picture a time when the only entertainment you had was the radio!
He really did have an incredible sense of humor, he was one of the greats, and if you dont know that much about him, just check out a few of his movies or comedy shows, I really think you would enjoy it.
Also remembers some other great Icons: Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Peter Sellers ......

"Light in the absence of eyes illuminates nothing. Visible forms are not inherent in the world but are granted by the act of seeing. Events contain no meaning in themselves only the meaning that the mind imposes on them...yet the world endures,...whether or not the mind exists..."
