Animatrix: Where is the Love (My first public AMV :D)

Post by obsidian_blk » Wed Jul 30, 2003 10:43 pm

Ok, I've been looking around here for a while, and I very much like many of the videos I see (GREAT WORK TO EVERYONE).

Anyway, I figured I'd submit a video I worked on. It' my third attempt at a video, but first public release. I hope everyone likes it. It's using the Animatrix... Specifically "The Second Rennisance(sp?) Parts I & 2" and "Matriculated". The music is Black Eyed Peas "Where is the Love". I think it came out better than I hoped... hope you all like it!

Please let me know what you think!! Thanks everyone!

:D I know... I messed up entering that time. I thought I fixed it, but I guess not. It's actual running length is 3:55 (according to Winamp). Sorry about that. I will try and fix the running time again.

Hope you all enjoy it, though

My review:

The Bad
You should have made a lot more scene cuts. There was one cut near the beginning that didn't match.. it just jumped, and you had done everything else around it with a fade. You let some clips play on for several lines. The song has a strong rythm structure to it.. you didn't follow it except for the literal parts (dropping bombs, gasses, cia and so forth) and a few lip syncs.

Also it felt like you used a lot of filler especially at the end.

The Good
The music has about the right sense of irony for a project like this.
Most of the lipsyc was pretty good.
The beginning, and parts of the middle were right on the mark with the song.

Advice:

This was pretty good for an early vid. Don't get all bent out of shape if no one nominates you for an Oscar though. + points for original song. You may have been better off actually cutting this song short instead of having long filler scenes. Also, I don't know what software you are using but you could also use some sort of filter effect such as film grain or old photo to make tie in the parts that have been done in an obviously different style.

That's my opin. Hope it helps. We'll see if it matches anyone elses opin.

Thanks for the review. I knew it wasn't going to be the best out there, but everyone has to start somewhere.

In any case, I hope others have some good or bad things to say about my first attempt, I would love to hear some more!

Thanks
