War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Applied to this case, the above quote is one of the most disgusting pieces of text I had ever read.

If that is your feeling then so be it. live your life until you have something to worry about that affects you.. whatever "applied to this case" means. ..

but for those following along, Lets go over some of this most particular two siblings positions. We wont even touch saddam himself, just his kids.

first, lil brother Qusay. . .nicknamed "the snake" by iraqi citizens.

Conducting oppression and even genocide campaigns against Shiite Muslims:, including conducting mass public executions, Random executions in prison, feeding people into shredders to execute them (head first if they liked you, feet first if they didn't), dismemmberment and avulsion torture.

He was also basically the general of the iraqi army, while never having fought in its military.

Number confirmed he's responsible by himself are at least 8,000. numbers suspected almost 15,000 dead.
---
and big brother Uday, nicknamed the 'wolf':

a psychotic rapist and murderer, people who escaped his wrath describe with disgusting clarity the enjoyment he drew from his inuhmane activities. He would order soldier to randomly seize women for his "pleasure," he seized women at their wedding ceremonies and raped them infront of their bride-grooms at least 4 confirmed times, He went to junior high aged schools and seized the underage girls. He beat a high ranker officer to death when he refused to let him dance with his wife.

He also delighted in finding new ways to torment people, including a favourite "acid bath." So twisted was his cruelity and so out of control that EVEN SADDAM banished him in 1988 for a time because he killed a favourite bodyguard of Saddam's.

He owned the newspaper and the TV station, spewing hate and rhetoric as much as possible.

He also headed up the country's athletic and olympic commitees, torturing the athletes to perform.

When the US troops took his mansion in Baghdad, they found a zoo with lions and cheetahs, an underground parking garage for his luxury cars, Cuban cigars with his name on the wrapper, and $1 million in fine wines, liquor -- and even heroin. The house was adorned with paintings of naked women and photographs of prostitutes taken off the Internet, complete with handwritten ratings of each.

number of women raped could easily number past 3000. Murders confirmed at least 11,000 and suspected close to 20,000; weather by his orders or by his own hand.

Because, mon ami, hitmanyr2k's statement of war breeding more hatred is not entirely correct.

The Roman empire, for instance, often helped more than it hurt when it conquered someone. Roads, military protection (from those troublesome German Goths, for instance), and increased economy were benefits. Additionally, most conquered territories had a fair amount of freedom.

This is not to say that conquering people left and right is good, but to imply that war just causes eternal trouble is naive, and really, rather foolish sounding.

President Bush, nicknamed 'the Ass' by the citizens of the basement.

Conducting military campaigns against Muslims on false premises (against international law, without consent of major international organisations), including bombing, missile attacks, artillery bombardments, suppression of anti-american demonstrations in Iraq, etc. Holds hundreds of POW's in a concentration camp, contrary to international law, where they are subjected to intimidation and psychological torture, under his regime the CIA conducts assasination operations againt suspected terrorists - also against international law.
He is also basically the general of the American Armed forces

Responsible for at least 6000 Iraqi and 3500 Afghani civilian deaths.

Also, a professed Christian. 'Thou shalt not kill.'

***

Thou shalt not kill my fucking ass!

Apparently, this theory that killing beyond the needs of survival is not only OK, but in fact naturally human, justifies everything. Right...

So, we go and kill a few thousand innocents in a war based on false premises, so we go and burn the fuck out of Iraqi soldiers with cluster bombs (weapon of mass destruction), DU (hazardous substance), fire bombs (technically prohibited by international law), destroy life-supporting infrastructure and cut off power to hospital and drinking water to multimillion cities, and that's gonna make us human.

I'd rather be a fucking animal than a human under those conditions. Although, to think of it, humans are essentially animals, only dumber.

Supposedly, it's not "thou shalt not kill". It's more "thou shalt not MURDER".

There is a difference. "Kill" is a general term, while "murder" is a specific one.

Seriously people, cut the shit and stop involving me in political discussions. This lets me vent my frustrations on bad days like this one, but then once I recover - it gives me a headache that I might be offending good, decent, patriotic americans, many of whom ARE great, respectable individuals. Don't think I have prejudice against America. I just don't like where they are going on the world political scene, and how they justify mass murder. I don't think there's any justification for this. War is hell. So just fess up to it and drop the angelic pretenses, and then at least I'll stop bugging the fuck out of your citizens.

By the way, you know who else has weapons of mass destruction?

Give me one reason I should trust Bush with them even a tiny bit more than Hussein with them, and I might cut the crap, too. Who says he's not gonna drop 'em on Iraq? Or North Korea? Or Russia, or Canada, or whatever? And how's that different from a threat Iraq allegedly presented?

Because the US has a lot more at stake and is more likely to use restraint in the nuclear regard than some pissant desert nation in the Middle East run by a two-bit dictator with Stalinist aspirations?

Because China, Russia, and most major European nations have them too?

Because technically, dropping nukes on Iraq would be a waste of missiles?

Because the US developed them?

Because we and the other nuclear powers are not going to sell nukes?

And because, all in all, Hiroshima and Nagasaki aside (which perhaps taught us, and the world, the potential horror of nuclear war) , we have a good track record?
