COPYWRITE LAWS????

Post by naj794 » Tue Aug 13, 2002 8:53 pm

:( I was told by my web host crosswinds.net that i couldnt post my music videos online. I asked them if posting a music video that had real music on it would go against their terms of service and here is thier reply

"Unless you composed the music yourself, you can't upload it-- doing so would be
a violation of the copyright on hte original music. If you have written
permission from the copyright holder I can give you an address to send it to
here for our files (email is not sufficient for this), but otherwise you can
only upload media to which you own the copyright."

Please will someone tell me if i really can post my Music Videos but this moron at crosswinds.net doesnt know what im talking about????
WOULD POSTING MY MUSIC VIDEO BE VIOLATING COPYWRITE LAW???

Just upload/post the video or whatever. Say it's using a freebie soundtrack. Do you think said ass will ACTUALLY check and view the file himself?

Bleh... He could say that you have to make your OWN footage too...

He seems to know exactly wshat he's talking about, and he answered your question very directly. You just don't seem to understand him.
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

Actually, if you do put an AMV up, they're probably legally at risk if they don't shut you down. Copyright violation is, after all, a crime. Unless, of course, you do have the copyrights to both song and anime...

THEN HOW???

Post by naj794 » Tue Aug 13, 2002 9:09 pm

I dont see how this place can exist then unless all of you own rights to the stuff you publish :( i feel so bad, all i wanted to do was to share my music videos with everyone and now i cant even do that because the USA keeps me from it. I made a really nifty web page and now ill have to shut it down because i cant post anything on it :(
