when i look back... i feel I have lost something

my first video, in my opinion, had a massive amount of emotion... my videos got technical after that... i gained editing ability... but lost heart

Exactly. I hate to sound haughty, but most of the "vision"/"concept" is there, but I now have the ability to convey it better and make it look prettier and more effective.

Maybe I'll be like George Lucas and remaster some day :-P.

My favourite video is always the next one, and I generally think I improve with each successive video. However, I showed to my sister (not an anime fan herself) the three that I've completed and posted, and she liked the first one best - yucky interlacing and all - and the most recent one least. I tend to choose less popular songs for my videos, and I think that has an effect on people's perceptions; if it's a song you've never heard before, or an obscure song that happens to be one of your favourites, you tend to react to the music as much as to the video itself.
