three possibilities:

easy but painstaking: clip around the subtitles, i.e. don't use any cut that has text overlaid on it. I've done this for about 80% of my catalog, and RichLather did it using 2 VCRs for one of his videos, so it isn't that difficult. Most of the source you want to use won't have subs on it anyways.

a little tougher: crop off the bottom 120 pixels of every frame. This turns pan-and-scan into Academy ratio, and cuts off 99% of the subtitles. You have to be careful that you don't get stray sub tops in your video this way, though, and it won't work visually if you're already using widescreen or anamorphic source.

the hard way: read this guide and paint the subtitles out frame by frame in Photoshop or something. Not fun, but you can do lip-synch and you don't have to screw with your source's aspect ratio.

hmmm . . I leave the Sub's as they are - and leave what they are saying in the language that they speak!

I dance around subs for about all my vids...

I'll say this, avoid lip synch and then amv editing will be easier!

[though if you want to, you're pretty much out of luck unless you want to go the extreme rotoscope method]

Also another way, in premiere that i found.

New -->title-->Make a black box from the bottam 2 the second dotted line on the bottam of the square.

Now put it on ur timeline and strech it across your video(because it would be fugly if it flashed on each subs scene :D) and click on it once so its selected.

then go to the transperancy options and uhm hmmm well you do something like select the alpha channel, try that, then export the video and test but it should have a black bar on the bottam covering them now.

Note - this would prob be best for videos with many subs in them and creators who dont mind part of their scene getting clipped.

Found: expeirementing with a hellsing video with kazaa footage :| im known to make about 30 second intros to videos and then never finish them, but the one im working on now will be the first! you will all see, you will!!!! :)

Make you vid with the Subtitles then when you get a dubbed version re-make it. Don't let your ideas be stuck in your head or you'll lose them forever.

write the idea down 2. so u wont forget it. but what ever you do, take the subs out. personally, i have stopped watching videos that left the subs in or given them a worse score.
