burning techie question
i'm wiping my system and reinstalling everything, right? My friend got me the Sony dvd + and - burner, and i had a 48x buslink knock-off burner too.
the buslink cam with nero, and the sony with some. . .sony software. When you fire up the Nero wizard, you see options to make a dvd, but they're greyed out, and in preferences, it doesn't see the sony drive, even for cds.
any clue on how to get the software to play friendly?

You cant choose the recorder in, um the Choose Recorder thingy?
Well, there is a way you can go about not using Nero. If you have a dvd authored in a folder you can make an image using IMgTool (see doom9.org) and if you have an image you can burn it with DVDDecrypter - which is really awesome at dvd burning.

Yup.AbsoluteDestiny wrote:It may be a software issue. I know some versions of Nero are designed to only work with the devicethey come with so you cant use any other devices.
As for the sony software, it could be a similar thing.
Most of the bundled versions of CD/DVD recording apps are set up to only work with the brand/model they came with.
Deliberately "crippled" software sucks.

One of the guys at work had the same problem last week. He even updated Nero from their Web site and it still didn't work. I think what he wound up doing was un-installing Nero, then re-installing the update file. That installs a 30-day demo copy that works for now. The long term solution is to buy the full version.sixstop wrote:can i bitch-slap them somehow?
