downloading what I own
I am making a new amv that is actually going to be serious. I dont have a dvd rom, much less a ripper program, so I am downloading the animes I am using. Thing is, I OWN a DVD with all the animes on it. I just want to know if I am going to get a bunch of fugly mean opinions from you all for using dled footage even though I own the animes already.
And I tried getting friends and even the pentagon to help me, but none could. I HAVE to dl in order to make the amv.

First, "anime" is plural of anime, not animes. The extra "s" sounds my mind processes bugs the hell out of me when I read that. Secondly, you won't get bad opinions simply because you have downloaded footage, you will get bad opinions because of the video quality that results from downloading footage. So, make sure you find the highest quality footage that you can get online in order to minimize the impact on your output quality rating.

1. Get a DVD-Rom. If you don't have the money, get some.
2. If you can't get a DVD-Rom, don't you have a video capture card? I'm not positive on how this works, but just play the DVD in your PS2/XboX/DVD Player while it's hooked up and record it that way...
3. If all else fails, I'm almost positive you have some type of camcorder. Play the DVDs on the TV, and then record them while they're playing witht he camera. That's what I did before I could get my hands on a DVD-Rom. It takes sheer luck to actually get this to look good, though.
4. Downloading stuff is just stupid... The good quality is enormously large in file size, and chances are, that the people who have that are on 56k. Don't take your chances, do one of the things above. >.>
...My two cents, since I went awhile without a DVD-Rom while I made AMVs.

Re: downloading what I own
Do it. If you really like it and you get a DVD-rom some time in the future you can re-master it, if you wind up not liking it, no big deal.HungryCrackPot wrote:I am making a new amv that is actually going to be serious.
