Other Anime Fans

Okay, I have been watching Adult Swim lately and liking most of it. (Trigun & Lupin III!!) So I went to the forums on Adult Swim . . . I have never met more offensive, illiterate, uncaring, flaming, stuck-up, stubborn, pathetic anime fans in my life. If someone posted their opinion, someone else would flame it to death. Almost all the posts were like this:
INUYASHA IS DA S###. And then all it would be is the person yelling and screaming in large caps about how all other anime is completely stupid and many other offensive things and that if Inuyasha got into a fight with anyone else he would kill them every violently. And if someone else came on saying "You know, I think Cowboy Bebop is pretty good" that person would get flamed right out of their shoes.

ARG! I can't stand it! Can't you respect another's opinions by being polite and making good points? That way we'd all go "Why yes, you make very good points. I guess I just have a different opinion than yours." That's why I like this board. I haven't seen a post in all caps in a loooooooong time. And everyone listens to each other to talk about anime! I mean, jeez! Liking anime isn't a competition!

And people wonder why I sometimes fear that anime is getting more and more popular. :sigh:

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact people are seeing it and that the industry is being supported, but the bigger a population gets...the more stupid people you have to. It's sheer statistics.

And I'm gald Adult Swim is showing anime. It gets anime to us peoples who still don't have jobs and can't afford it.

But then again it also gets anime to the "normal, low IQ AMericans" out there that just can't handle stuff with plots. And I enjoy Adult Swim not only cuz of the anime they pick, but also cuz of those cute, clever little messages they put up every once in a while.

removing the anime references generalizes this post for nearly all online communities with a sufficient userbase. This isn't a problem with anime or with Adult Swim, it's a problem with forums. There have been major-media articles on how online political 'discussion' boards are pretty much exclusively used for vicious namecalling. I am reminded of this PA classic.

we occasionally have our problems around here as well, but most of the idiots in AMV don't read the forums.

Personally I fear that anime with have the same problem that punk music had in the early nineties. Over popularization within a commmunity that doesn't understand what anime truly is.

I'm also afraid of the rising popularity of anime. Although I do watch a lot of mainstream anime, it annoys me when people only see anime as the screw ups on CN. They don't know that there is a lot more to the anime world. Most people just think anime is Pokemon, Sailormoon or DBZ.

I stopped warching toonami, man what a bunch of crap. I very very very rarely even watch adult swim now after buying kenshin. Honestly i believe Toonami dont know that they are showing anime. Its the best "action cartoons". It gets old seeing dubs now so im pretty much down to buying dvds on recomended anime, which worked out very well with rurouni kenshin.

i hardly watch AS my self. i dont even watch Toonami any more except for YYH. i cant even remember the last time i watched AS. probably back in april. so its been a few months since ive watched it. i just go out and buy the uncut dvds.
