Of course not. Why should I think like everyone else? Have I no right to think like I want as an individual?Wow, Dark Kamui, you really don't hide your lack of coherent thought, do you?
You're right. Perhaps we should not distrubute things that do not belong to us, like fansubs. If fansubs had never been distributed in the early days via VHS or whatever means the general public wouldn't have taken much interest... If the general public had not taken any interest then probably licensing companys would have never taken any interest neither for a lack of future costumer base.If something's not licensed for distribution, it doesn't mean that anyone who wants to can distribute it freely at their whim. It's still someone's property.
If so, maybe general distribution in the USA of anime would been delayed or non-existant. Possibly, leaving the anime fanbase to just a few "open-minded" people that decided to import these shows from Japan and keep it to themselfs, cause they had spent their hard earned money or time in these things that are so RARE and UNIQUE.
You're absolutely right jbone. People should have listened too in the early days of VCRs, and stop recording propietary TV shows or movies to later distribute to their friends or family illegally. Hollywood should have won at the courts and banned all existing VCRs, because the industry would be destroyed by illegal distribution. After all, we so know that actors and film makers are honest, hard working people that are starving to death for lack of dinning at a place that doesn't charge your week's salary for an appetizer, jbone.
Same as with the music industry... But I'm not gonna get on that.
Ever heard of radical advertisement? Supply and demand? Who needs dubbs? They're either horrible, just plain annoying, and in many cases fail to deliver the emotion or meaning the jappannese creators intended in the first place.Ever hear of licensing costs? Or distribution costs? Or stores paying their employees? Or voice actors paying for food?
I once had Manga's release of X1999 in my hands and I saw the so called rumored HORROR of a poor "official" release: Dubbed (Very, very BAD dub), no subtitles nor JAP soundtrack, SVHSish quality, and no menus or extras. Am I content that I "evaluated" the product before a purchase? HELL YES.If by "better" you mean a more literal translation, then possibly. But officially-released anime tends to have translations which are easier to understand while reading, and which can make more sense to their American audience. Are official translations perfect? No. But the companies are at least trying to improve their translations from release to release, and you know with an official release that you won't get broken, nonsensical English - unlike some fan-subbed translations and some import DVDs.
And from then on I'd rather relly on reviews or "rips" from official DVDs prior to a real purchase.
But of course I want them to. If they expect ME to pay hard-cash for their product and enforce their rights to titles previously distributed at people's whims for FREE, then, by all means it is MY RIGHT as costumer to demand excellent quality, service, or even boycott products if I'm dissapointed.Well, that's just your opinion. And it's your opinion because you're closed-minded, have no interest or comprehension of what's reasonable, and are so self-centered that you desire the entire industry to pander to your own personal desires.
No problem, you crack a few good ones yourself.Sigh. Thanks for the laugh, it's always welcome.
There's really nothing much to think about when it's just plain, common sense.I look forward to your well-thought-out, intelligent, sensible response. (*chuckle*)
