Hikaru No Go Licensed

Post by EarthCurrent » Tue Jul 01, 2003 1:40 am

The manga and anime versions of Hikaru No Go: the happy adventures of Hikaru and his dead Go playing buddy, have beeen licensed for North American distribution by Viz.

This is a fun series and all...but I really wonder if this will catch on in the U.S.

Though, if it does, it'll certainly be easier to get people to play Go with me.

I watched the subbed version at Akon and found it dull, though I admit I didn't watch it very long. I left after about ten minutes. I slightly remember a man in lip stick as well as a midget with two colored haired. I did how ever learn the basics of GO, which doesn't seem to be that bad of a game. Maybe when its released I'll give it a second chance.

Nah...it is boring...but I played Go before I saw, it so it was fun to watch 'cause I had decent understanding about the game, and the strategies being used.

It's pretty rudimentary, but for most Americans, who have no familiarity with Go, it seems unlikely that they'll be intrigues enough to sit and learn the wonders of a properly played atari.

It reminded me of Initial D. its fun to watch people get owned and so worked up over things.

Why, God? Why??

Of all the better series out there that could've been licensed ::coughAZUMANGADAIOHcough::, they had to go with THIS piece of dren?

I tried to watch it. I tried to like it. I really did. But I just can't get past the fact that the main character is a shameless frelling cheater, and nobody on the show seems to care

Really? GOOD!

Hmm, there's still better unlicensed series out there than HnG, I'm sure, though :?
