Bravo! I wholeheartedly agree. Black Monarch can say what he wants, but the parts about Gendo and replacing Yui all makes sense. It's the point of his entire agenda. And they may not SHOW him create Rei from Yui or make her like her, but...well...you're a retard if you need it spelled out.Savia wrote:Rei-II gave the appearance of being 14, but her actual age is uncertain due to her cloned nature. The one at the beginning of the series, Rei-I, is also of uncertain age. Rei-III also appeared to be 14 when she was only a few days old. Although Yui and Rei might have coexisted, there's no real way to tell in terms of chronology. I believe that, as Gendo created Rei as a 'substitute' for Yui's place in his heart (and took Ritsuko's mother as a replacement for the physical side of things), and more importantly as a method to get back to Yui (as stated in EoE), he would not have created her until after Yui was gone.
She looks like her, she has relatively the same voice (both Megumi for a reason), she has a natural attachment to Shinji and so on. If you need it spelled out than too bad..think what you want.
So yeah...I agree...but I already said tiat.

Oh, and as an aside, presumably the reason that both are acted by Megumi is because everyone is acted by Megumi. Off the top of my head: Rei, Yui Ikari, Lina Inverse, female Ranma, Chihiro (2nd one, from Boys Be), Megumi (Cheeky Angel), too many minor roles to name... There was a time when whenever a female character in a series I hadn't seen opened their mouth for the first time, I almost automatically readied myself to hear Megumi Hayashibara speaking.
As an aside to the above aside, Souma Yuki (Fruits Basket) is fairly obviously VA'ed by a woman, but in this case it is by the same woman that VA'ed Mune Mune in Abenobashi Mahou Shotengai

+10 for SaviaSavia wrote:Does this mean I can have some points?

No I think it was on purpose, the Yui and Rei voice thing. I might also add that she did the voice for Pen^2 (yeah you read that right) and the girl in the video game.Savia wrote:Oh, and as an aside, presumably the reason that both are acted by Megumi is because everyone is acted by Megumi. I also think that it was done on purpose, but I just wanted to make a point of Megumi's extremely large character list.
What significance do you think there is in the fact that Pen^2 and Rei/Yui share a voice?

Yeah Megumi has done a lot of voice work and thus is the most famous and sought after one.Savia wrote:What significance do you think there is in the fact that Pen^2 and Rei/Yui share a voice? And is there any in Yuki and Mune Mune?
As for the significance...I would say it means the Pen^2 is also has a portion of Yui or a portion of him is in Rei
