Need help finding an Anime!

I am looking for this Anime movie, it was played on HBO between 1984-1987. The only scenes I remember was: a kid flying (falling) through the air with bullets (getting shot) very graphic, lots of blood, landing on a shore with many big creatures (bugs) that were his friends (working with him) they were also wounded. They needed to get across this lake to the other shore but the water (lake) was acid. The bugs went through and the kid was screaming because it would open/burn the bugs wounds.
Also had big planes in it.
There was this castle way up in the sky on a pillar of rock and it crumbled in the end. Also had this little crazy guy that had eyes rolling around and he floated.

please help me........

I don't think it's Castle in the Sky. Some parts fit but other parts have nothing to do with that. That was my first guess. Honestly, I have no clue.

You won't be disapointed. Nausicaa is arguably Miyizaki's finest work, although everyboy seems to have their favorites.
