Game Brainstorm

Post by Lyrs » Thu Jun 26, 2003 8:26 pm

Well i was reading through the reviews of this summers games and to say the least, some of them don't look very good, especially in teh rpg sector.

so here i am putting up a few thoughts about a game i would want, feel free to do the same.

Diablo 2: LOD

Hardly a game with depth, but if i had the skills, i would remake the whole thing. It has a pretty good storyline, enjoyable if you read it like a book.

so here's what i would add:

Sorceress: All her skills should be effective, even in hell mode. all the low lvl skills should have benefits that when trained high enough will be effective.

firebolt for example can be made to be a damaging spell by a) adding penetrate and b) having either multiple firing or c) rapid-fire. the same things could work for the other skills.

spells can be mixed and linked. firing two spells at the same time or cicylcing through them without having to manually change them.

auto-cast, this feature can be turned on, meaning, spells such as "enchant" or mana shield will be automatically recast once their time limit is over or have been distinguished.

Paladin: Give him the ability to have an army of mercs. say, have him be able to hire five mercs. and then add leadership skills such as formations to his tree. also, with an army, their should also be team items sets, like say, legion unfiorms.

for all mercs: they should all be able to wear anything within their stats, rings and such. they should also have an inventory.

necromancer: this dude is fucking cool, but it still really sucks. how about adding "arming" abilities. skeletons can be armed with weapons and armor. they can also have formation abilities.

and yeah, the game play has to take longer with 100+ hours of storyline gameplay.

cows....yeah, how about adding some stuff like: make it a whole act with up to four maps. robinhood and his team of cows armed with bows in his forest. king cow arthur and his moo knights. and more.

these are just some things. D2:LOD would be a lot more indepth and have a larger storyline and better game action for all classes, so zons and sorcs won't rule all the gameplay.

Is this a game where you click endlessly with your mouse?

exactly. except when you're trying to beat down some monster with over 10k hitpoints. :D then, you can just hold down your mouse key and beat away with a virtual sword or shoot with bows and stuff.

and yeah: add no more frantic mouse clicking to that list of ideas. mouse clicking available, but not as much, because your avatar will be smarter and will attack the enemy you specify "before" hand. such as, "attack nearest" or "attack strongest" or "attack weakest."

That's one of the things i liked about DS. :D

but yeah, you'll still get to lead your avatar around but you won't have to micro manage your personal character all the time.

You can hold down the mouse button netime.

Also, all the sorcerress skills ARE effective, it just depends how many skill points you put on each one.

most of those are used for stun, not to kill it -_-, oh and then faster magic cast rate

you don't have to manually change the the spells, shortcuts lyrs, short cuts

auto cast would be ok,

paladins are strong enough, why in the hell do you need 5 mercs?

necromancers? they're doing something about that in the new patch, go to blizzard, they don't really need help neway, use poison nova in a group of cows

the cow idea, i like

and, if your other characters are good enough, they'd be able to beat a zon or sorc, i really dont see how they rule gameplay, i guess it depends on either dueling or game play.

neway, stop bitching. or go make your own game

"leap that wall, if you're so great"

hey rachel,

thanks. i needed that.

yeah, all you say are true. firebolt and like skills can be effective, but have you tried trying to kill a hell zombie with firebolt?

as for paladins, why not? but the thing behind that really was, it would be cool if paladins had formation skills to use. given 5 mercs, the idea would work better.

and i would make my own game, except, i don't have the skills yet, and blizzard would sue me except if i do get a job with the team, which might not be in the near future.

Well, firebolt isn't made to kill, it's made to stun, like I said above.

As for the paladins, I guess that's alright. I just don't think it's needed.

Well, i was going for a more complex gameplay with rts elements. probably won't do anything though, 'cause it's just talk.

I don't think dressing up 5 mercs is complex game play.

But then again, I don't like chicken.
