Fruits Basket was a rather good dub. Not perfect as certain things were tamed down just a tad but it was very minor. Cast was more or less dead on and everyone did fit the role. Honestly not once did I really crince at a delivery (at least not in roles I did not crince at the Japanese as well because a couple one ep characters are just annoying.)

Actually I was more annoyed with the constant infusion of Japanese terms in the subtiles just because it looked unprofessional and it is not proper to assume that people know certain words or the nuances of the language. Try watching it with my friends subbed and I was stuck explaining stuff and they were like.... why didn't they just call it 'this'.

I will say though the Japanese cast was also incredible but it is the rarity of a dub i could watch in either language. It proved Funimation can do an anime and not make it sound awful.

Nadesico made me cringe.
Akito is not suppose to be some whiny lil bastard from EVA.
I didn't like the fact that they seemed to recast all of the EVA crew for this and adprutbly changing everything to horrible porpitions.

Vampire Hunter D Wasn't dubbed. It was made for the english Language.

Dubs I thought are were good are, (IE I would watch over the sub)

Hellsing
Cowboy Bebop
Noir
Armatige 3rd
Evangelion (only because i watched it and got used to it first)

I agree with most of leathel's, especially Trigun and X TV.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

..I think Spriggan had good dub work, the kid who played McDougal did an excellent job imho, hell the commentary was mostly about how well the VA's did...

I think you mean the domestic anime market here in the states.

Right?

I think that the dubs for Cowboy Bebop and Noir are the only ones that truly surpassed their respective originals. I first saw Eva dubbed, so I'm more used to it that way, but I have no real preference between the two as they are both good. Although the English-language Misato is far superior to the original one, IMO.
