I gotta say, this is kind of a nifty idea.

As with many other attempts to help endangered species, the environment, the planet, it is a rather appealling idea, but upon closer inspection reveals its own character flaws. While something like this is much prefered to the killing of such big game, it entices more people to "hunt" (since they would not be breaking the law in this case) a very limited population. I can only see green hunting as a step forward if it is practiced along with a steep reduction in poaching, while the number of "hunters" per year is strictly regulated by park officials (i.e. keep the number very low).

I agree with the weaknesses of the program, but it does provide an alternative to running out and bathing yourself in animal blood (which through personal experience I can attest is just sticky and messy). So long as it is kept in the sphere of helping scientists out, I don't see a problem. Like the article warns, I too don't want people running out and constantly shooting the same animal over and over again.
