The river is a good place to dump the bodies, but if you pull of the murder right, you won't need to dispose of the bodies. Just let them be, because moving the bodies or trying to hide the evidence would just add to the probability of being seen and identified by witnesses.
You'd need to have at least one getaway car, with fake out of state license plates, a police scanner, and all identifying marks and serial numbers ground off. The best bet for a getaway car would be a 1988-1993 Dodge mid-size sedan (Plymouth Acclaim, Dodge Sundance), or the full-sized equivalent (Dodge Dynasty, or Chrysler New Yorker). The size of the trunk would allow for a fake trunk floor to be put in, allowing for stashing of evidence (preferably sealed in air-tight containers, to ensure drug and bomb sniffing dogs would not detect the evidence). The 2.5L engine has reasonable performance on the low end of the RPM curve (147 ft-lbs of torque @ 2,800 rpm) for acceleration in possible highway pursuits. Also, the mid and full-size Chryslers were produced in large numbers, and are owned by a wide range of middle-class civilians and public organizations, making it blend in to the crowd perfectly.
Because all this prep-work would have to be done, only one car should be used, so as not to arouse suspicion. For this reason, a camoflage net (from your local military surplus store) and a quick-disconnect lighting switch should be incorporated into the design. This would allow for the vehicle to be hidden, and all lights (including brake lights, which remain active even with the ignition off) to be cut, giving all the passengers a chance to ditch the car in a field or forest, and escape undetected. From there, each individual could change out of the clothing used for the crime, burn them in a bonfire at a local state park, which allows overnight camping, and claim they were on a camping or hunting trip. If it is more suspicious to be found by witnesses camping together, the party could split up, and arrange individual rides and excuses for their absence.
