Post by leathelanime » Sun Aug 11, 2002 8:20 am

I dont know if you guys already knew this or not but....Inu Yasha Airs on Adult Swim on August 31 at 11pm....Heres the official stuff

In a surprise announcement, The Cartoon Network has issued an official press release announcing that the first 52 episodes of the currently ongoing Inuyasha anime TV series will premier on Adult Swim at 11 p.m. on August 31st and air a new episode every Saturday night.

The Inuyasha fantasy/adventure anime adapted from manga created by Rumiko Takahashi, is one of the most watched anime TV series on Japanese television today with more than 80 episodes so far, and a second theatrical movie scheduled for Japanese release this winter.

Well I think this is good....I get to see the dub and I get a reason to watch the god awful Adult Swim lineup (Nah guess ill just plug the channel in at 11...)

Interesting...

I love the Inu-Yasha manga and I'm up to date on what VIZ has released as a comic.

I don't want to watch Inu-Yasha on Adult swim because
1) It's dubbed
and
2) It's dubbed by the Ocean Group.

I loved the Ocean Group's dub of Ranma 1/2 - one of the only dubs I like... but I have not come close to liking any dub they have done since.

I think I will wait until the commercial release of the series.

There's a lot of stuff that's been lined up to go on Adult Swim sometime in the near future... I just forget what they are  But there must be some relationship between AOL/Time Warner and Bandai, as Bandai seems to be supplying the bulk of material for it.

You've got to love how considerate the people at CN are though. I mean, normally you'd nestle your newest series in the middle of the lineup to encourage people to tune in sooner and stick around longer. Instead, CN just gets it over with right away and lets you go on with your channel surfing. Not that there's anything else worthwhile on past 11 EST on a Saturday night, but it's the thought that counts.

There's no "relationship", Bandai just tries to get their stuff on TV the hardest. They got Esca on Fox (a disaster, but still quite a feat) and Fox is certainly not AOL/Time Warner...

Just saying I saw a list of "aquisitions" of CN and all of them were from Bandai. And keep in mind, Escaflowne/Fox was a WHILE ago, plenty of time for an arangement to be made between AOHell/TW and Bandai.

Here's the not too comprehensive VA list from one of the IY lists on yahoogroups:

Inuyasha: Richard Cox (apparently Ranma's VA, which fits since Yamaguchi Kappei is IY's and Ranma's seiyuu)
Kagome: Monica Stori
Shippou: Saffron Henderson
Miroku: Kirby Marrow (rumoured)

Seeing as I'll never get to see IY on CN what with me living on the other side of the world and all that, I'll probably end up getting the first American DVD when it gets released, rabid IY fan that I am, just to see how the dub turns out.

My only concern? Potential influx of IY AMVs after the series airs. :P

I heard Richard Cox was going to be Inu Yasha...

another reason I won't watch the dub.

oh... and leathelanime... I have had to deal with bad dubs for over 15 years... believe me, I'm used to it... but that's not to say I'm ever going to tolerate it.

The men who own Time warner and Fox used to be somewhat competitors. Last I heard, the guy who owns FOX was living in Australia and we all who know owns AOL Time Warner 'enter next conglomerate here'...

Ahh, I wish I could remember the guys name. Anyway, I mentioned this because I haven't heard anything about partnerships and I hope I don't. It would only make things worse if an even merger of media giants THAT big occured.
