Hi... I just joined today and was very excited when I found my favorite song to an amv but I'm not allowed to download it. How does the pledging/downloading thing work?

There's a two-week waiting period for new members - to avoid people from defaulting on their pledges and making new accounts. After two weeks, you can download whatever you want, but if you pledge - you can download right away. By the way, this is only for "Local" downloads - direct and indirects downloads will work just fine for you even if you're not registred.
