agreed, sort of.rubyeye wrote:I heard the sample on their site::
It sounds like all of these guys have seriously gone sour!
James' singing is terrible and what the hell is up with that music? Gagh!
sounds like they are trying for that "raw" early speed metal sound. Trying to recapture the magic of the early years sort of thing, never works IMO. Eh, I probably will not bother buying it, lest I hear something better than that sample.

I have it! and I LOVE IT! It's a great album. It has nothing on old Metallica (Kill-justice era) but it's definatly some RAW, HEAVY fucking metal. I like the direction they went with this album. I love down tuning, I usually tune down lower than what they tuned to on st. anger. The only thing I didn't really like much was the fact that there are no solos. That bothered me for a bit, but after a while you start to realize it kinda fits the style, though it would have been nice to hear solos on some of the songs that really need one.
Overall, it's old school metallica meets new age metal with a twist of technicality and superb fucking heavy-ness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great album! Better than load and Reload!

Ive Always Wanted to say this. Metallica, Ive never been a fan, I can't knock the boys in thier early days. Even though typically its not my type of music, The early days was power driven angry music. Something just went wrong somewhere. (this is my opinion of course) I feel, that money and greed may have played into this. I respect people on the basis that yes you need to get paid for your work of course, but you make music for people, Lars' whole stance on Napster, piracy etc. Didnt tick me off but just made me think. So all this hype with thier new album comes along, and POW Launch has every freaking video ever made. Im sure they make money somewhere off that, but gosh boys.. Or maybe since they are the featured artist etc they gave the videos to help promote this new album.. I have a much deep love for music. And sharing music, through what we do making amvs, through covers, even yes sometimes through winmx or other such places is great outlets for people to share, expand musical tastes. Im in no way wanting a piracy debate or anything like that. Too hard to find singles in stores anymore. If i just want one song, i will download it. Call me a loser, a cheat, thats fine. I wont spend 18 bucks for one song And Regardless of what these record companies say. People still buy music. My hubbys a Huge Metallica Fan.. He likes the new Album and is happy they are going the route they are, better then what came before. Just in my years of life, I never ever thought i would see Metallica in a video, reacting some scenes from Matrix. blah.
I just had to get that out. Its been building up for about a week now, as with Jason leaving the band (i think thats his name) All the poor boy wanted to do was work with other people, expand creatively and the leash on his neck from other members, especially Lars was just to strong. How unfortunate what music can make people become.
Thanks Guys
