Making props(kinda) for cosplay... Please assist.

I'll be making a costume way in advance for Animazement 2004 because at AZ 03 I waited till the night before and almost didn't finish so anyway...

I'll be cosplaying as the duel keyblade wielding unknown from Kingdom Hearts "Deep Dive" I'm already getting the costume worked on, but he uses 2 key blades:
The oathkeeper

and the oblivion

I was wondering if some of you here could give me some pointers, tips, suggestions, etc. on what would be the best way to go about making these.

Foam-core board is very sturdy and lightweight. You can cut and layer it for the feathering and the "blade" on the Oathkeeper, plus it takes paint very well. Heck, just about the whole thing could be built from foam core, with maybe a wooden dowel at its heart.

Just be careful with the X-acto knives on the detailed bits.

For the Oblivion's chain, get plastic chain from your local Lowe's or Home Depot.
